    Hi all,

Not started my wish list yet, thought I'd first start on a To-Do list for the house i.e. stuff that needs bought, fixed, done, tidied etc., and it's huuuggggeee!

The Next sale was supposed to be good but I didn't see anything I needed, seen a lovely corner desk which would fit nicely under my stairs but it was £110! Gonna have to think that one through!

Well couldn't get onto the internet the last couple of days so instead got on with the housework and have managed to finish the livingroom, kitchen and bathroom, only the bedroom to do but that is the worst! Need it done by 7th August which is when I finish work for the hols and I want to chill out the weekend before I fly out. The house has got to be spotless, case packed, bills paid etc.

Sister just emailed me hers and the kids wish list - quavers, fredos, ruffle bars, white buttons, galaxy, fruit and nut and a tartan umbrella! Gonna cost me, maybe not much money but valuable weight in my case! Going shopping tomorrow so will at least buy the brolly, if I buy the chocolate just now I will eat it.

Anyway got my internet back and also my refund of £13 from PC Support, can't believe £1 a minute, what a rip-off.

Well OH on his way down, Chinese tonight as can't be bothered cooking. So bye all and hope have a good weekend.

Hope to see you back Rupe, hope your son is ok and don't worry too much about SF! xx

hi swinstie - is £50 a day for your holiday essential? Are there cheaper ways of having fun - are you self catering?

    Hi SH and All,

Well £50 a day would mean £1200 spending money but I am thinking I am going to go with £1000 and take my Visa just in case. It's one of those holidays where we won't know what we will be doing day to day, we are room only then staying with my sister but we will be taking them for meals etc as not paying to stay with her. She has just emailed though to say after Niagara we are going to New York for a few days, this holiday is getting expensive, but I'm quite excited about it also.

Nothing much else happening, the housework needs kept on top of with only the bedroom to do before the hols, so gonna go do a quick tidy up or a swish & swipe then a bath and bed, I am pooped!

    Hey Swinstie,

How's you? Your holiday sound fab - I say if you are going make the most of it and you'll probably be surprised that you don't end up spending nearly as much as planned but I totally understand not wanting to not have enough. You must be super excited!

Well done on the cleaning and sorting, sounds like you'll have a nice home to come home too....i'm mid sorting at the mo. I'm the same as you and keep little things like theatre tickets, holiday momentos etc - I went to Matalan and bought a large storage box (pretty one) and keep all the little bits in there and then every so often I have a look to remind me that although in debt I have still had a life :rotfl:

Well done for your debt being sub 10K and when it's sub 5k how great with that be :D I can't wait for mine to be sub 25k as that's over half or what i orginally owed, long way to go yet though

Anyhow, yapped enough! Just trying to catch up on everyones diaries as not been logging on much of late.

    K xx

    Hi Swinstie

Just catching up with your diary. Your holiday sounds so brilliant - I know I would need to take a small fortune if I was going to New York! Shop shop shop! First day back at work today from my hol and actually have euros left over! We could have actually managed with about half of what we took if we had been really frugal but what are holidays for if not to enjoy and not worry about money for once. As a rule we allow about £70 per day for two of us and that's usually plenty. However, where we go there are usually no shopping temptations like New York just tourist tat!
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Amazing hols planned. Truly it sounds lush.

Like you, we allow so much a day for meals and trips and then take a visa. Though I would say that now you are MSE certified that I think you may be a bit more cautious in your spending habits as you now whatever goes on the plastic pal does have to be paid back and will just add to your existing debt.

I do believe its possible to have a holiday, enjoy yourself, treat yourself without going overboard.

Make sure you take advantage of all the FREE activities and any coupons or special offers at restaurants, happy hours etc etc!

Most of all have a wonderful time and enjoy spending all that time with your OH.
