Hi Swinstie - at least you are still making progress! I am finding it hard being off work - I think I am spending more in some areas which is therefore doubly naughtly. I sneaked a couple of tops home the other day that OH doesn't know about but they were cancelled out partly by getting my DS to give me cash for using my bingoport amazon vouchers so I justify it to myself!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Morning everyone,
The last few days have not been good! Been feeling really tired lately, and all because I am trying to get on top of the housework (house looks as bad as ever), work two jobs, trying to be a good girlfriend and everything else that goes with just living, I am totally exhausted.
Came into work this morning and was going to ask for a half day, doesn't look likely as got a pile of work to do! Had an email from Virgin saying my bill was ready for viewing, got the shock of my life when seen it was £70.77 . It's because I got broadband in, I knew it would be more than normal, but I wasn't expecting that! Phoned them and they explained it was advance charges, why don't they tell you this before you go ahead and take it! Better warn my sis as she is getting it in soon!
So gonna try and get on so I can have my half day, planning on taking a couple of things back, maybe will pay for some of my bill. At least it is payday on Friday, only problem is then it's a 5 week month for next payday!
Got some jars for my money, so maybe that will help! Got them all labelled so on payday will transfer money into each one and pray that there is still money there til get paid again.
Feeling really sick right now, think need some food, catch up later. Hope everyone else is well x0 -
Sounds like you are def in need of that half day my love. Hope you manage to get it. Make sure you take care of yourself too, rest up a little! Easier said than done, I know.
This debt busting, having a life and trying to work etc and make more money is all consuming at the best of times. I know it has got on top of me too now and again. OH seems to think that now I work from home more often things should be easier....yes in the sense I don't have 5 hours travelling time in my day but NO as I still have to do the same amount of work and my travelling is always done when most people are sounds asleep tucked up in bed....he just doesn't get it
Hope you feel better as the day goes on, fingers crossed you get that half day!

Hi Swinstie
Hope you got your half day. My first Virgin bill was loads too but at least it will even out next month. DD has another box in her bedroom and I always get a shock when I view the bill and see all the films and music she's bought - but she has to pay for it herself.
Sometimes I think we try to be too perfect (I am guilty of this myself). Aside from the stress of money saving and paying debt (and not having any money!!) - when I get home from work I go in the gym every day, do the housework, try to find time to look at my emails on laptop, cook, get stuff ready for work the next day, etc. And then I wonder why sometimes I get stressed!
I get paid on Friday so next month will be a long one for me too. However, I can't tot up the finances until next week when OH gets his last pay of the month so will be really frustrating having to wait.
Hope you are feeling better by the time you read this.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Bless you being so tired and stressed, make sure you make room for some 'me' time.
Even if it's just a nice long soak in the bath. Well done on the new job, do you really need to do it though if it's making you so tired. I'm sure you've weighed it all up but there's no point knocking yourself out.
Hope you have managed a half day and thanks for the advice about the flylady thread, have had a look and intend to start next week when my house has reached liveable tidiness.
P.s. Maybe ease up on the housework. Hey Swinstie - hope you are feeling better after your half day dude. You have been doing so brilliantly - and also completed a mammoth detox :T
And yes - advance charges are a nasty shock aren't they?! Vodafone are also quite good at those :rolleyes:Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

Evening all,
My last post of the night and thanks for all your posts!
I am feeling a lot more in control now thanks to the half day. I took back another bag and trainers so got £23 back in my mitts, OH wonders why the heck I buy things only to take them back, I tell him it's what us woman do! At least they are going back, although methinks he could be right as I am wasting petrol in doing so
So after my shopping trip, or de-shopping trip (actually I did buy some toiletries, no seriously, I did)! I bought a couple of mini travel things i.e. face wash & moisturiser cos don't have much of these or any I could decant anyway and some travel bottles and an eye-mask for the plane - it was from a charity shop (new) so feel like done something nice today
I have de-canted shampoo, conditioner, body wash, handcream and hair sticky stuff, so will use these to test whether they will last me for 3 weeks, actually they should and anyway can always use sis's stuff if I run out, ha!
I have also cleaned the kitchen and washed and put away the dishes, so I am currently sitting in a haven of niceness, even the livingroom and bathroom are clean and tidy and fit for visitors (not that I get any, ahem)!
The only hotspot and it will be a bigger hotspot once I set fire to it (joking), is the bedroom/wardrobe :eek:. I fear I will never be seen again if I venture in there - so far this week, I have spent 2 nights sleeping on one side of the bed, not because OH is on the other side, but because I have clothes/toiletries/books, you name it lying there. It WILL be done by the weekend! Needs to be as working on Sunday from 3pm til 8pm - think of the extra money Swinstie, you will be fine!
Anyway, I have kind of tired myself out so hope to get a good sleep and be back on form tomorrow, watching Eleventh Hour just now, Rufus Sewell, what can I say except swoooooooooonnnnnn!!!!!!
Nite all, hope everyone else having a good and productive night xx0 -
Glad you managed to get that half day and lots done :T

Evening all,
Not much to update today, got my holiday list sorted and emailed to a friend who is fab at packing - it will probably come back with half of it scored out, ha! Anyway, watching The Mentalist but gonna go upstairs to watch the rest and put clean sheets on the bed.
Early night for me I think, although I am starving so will have a wee bit of tea & toast before bed, hopefully get a good sleep in time for the weekend!
Hope everyone having a nice night x0
