Anyone else finding the application for the Natwest e-ISA confusing?

I applied for mine on the 13th, and yesterday I posted back the first form. I too wrote on the form that I wanted a transfer form to be sent, and that I wanted the interest credited to the E-ISA.

Will post again with an update of the next step if/when it happens!

I am so so angry this morning about the NatWest e-ISA.

The thing is confusing as people have already mentioned above. I called someone to check the process and they assured me it would be fine.I still wasn't happy so took the forms to the branch for them to check and they said it would be fine, so I sent them off.

This morning I recieved a letter saying I had missed the dealine for the 2008/09 ISA - which I didn't really apply for. Attached to the letter were the returned forms but they were NOT MY FORMS! There was someone else's application for an e-ISA and my transfer form! I am so angry that they sent me all these details - the form has so many details on it, address, date moved to that address, residential status, phone numbers, date of birth, NI number, signature etc. I can't believe they did this.

Anyway I called them and they appologised and asked me to put it in the bin and that they would send the other customer another form. Hmmm Iwould rather have sent it back to them, anyway it's all a bit incompetent.

It really put me off transferring my ISA there, although their rates are quite good. Not sure what to do but I really feel like I shoud write to them and complain. I feel like emailing the person who's form I have to let them know, but that would be using the details on the form. I think I would want to know if someone had mine though. At least I have it and won't do anything with it but not everyone is so honest and it could have ended up in anyone's hands.

Jade, I completely agree with you and your anger towards Natwest. The other person is going to wonder why they have been sent another form anyway. If I was in your shoes I would definitely email them and let them take this up with Natwest if they want to. I hope they appreciate your honesty. I am stunned by Natwest incompetence that I have been reading on these forums, having been a customer for many years, I just hope my transfer goes through smoothly
  • Dont bother with natwest! After more than a month of trying to set up e-isas to transfer our Icasave isas, our money (£39k) is still sitting in the natwest feeder account (at 0% interest), and no-one there will even discuss it with me! All I want to do is tell them the money is there to be transfered, but natwest staff are unable to action this. Instead, they have 'raised a query', which is to be dealt with in date order. They are taking 2-3 weeks to process one single days queries, and are currently actioning those from April 4th. Staff are not able to cope with the 55,000 applications and it's chaos. I have had misinformation, arrogance, rudeness, complete ineptitude from branch and helpline staff, and have now given up. The Icesave money will be going elsewhere!

Got my application in the post today even though I already have a Natwest savings accounts, logged in online to create the account and get screen after screen telling me that the account creation would be instant. So 10 days wasted there.

I've already filled this years ISA allowance with my LloydsTSB fixed rate, so I wanted to organise a transfer to the e-ISA when that matures on the 22 May. I did as advised when making the opening application and stated a £1 deposit by cheque. I then crossed this out on the printed application form and write ISA TRANSFER instead. I also wrote THIS E-ISA after 'credit the interest to'.

So now I need an ISA transfer form. I click on the 'Request to transfer cash ISA funds' button after logging into my savings account. Hold on though the system says, you haven't opened an e-ISA to do the transfer into, what you need is an e-ISA application form not a transfer form. Had to phone their help line in the end as I couldn't find a way to get past this. I was told to logout and then enter 'ISA transfer form' into the search box and this would find the form I needed, which it did.

So I've now got a complete e-ISA application form and a completed ISA transfer form. The letter with the opening application says return in the enclosed envelope. But there is no enclosed envelope!!! I've got no idea where this lot needs to be sent. Another call to the help line gets me this address

    FREEPOST NATWEST
    YORKSHIRE RETAIL
    CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRE
    PO BOX 19
    LEEDS
    LS11 5ZY

    Does this sound right?

Think I might just take into my local branch on Monday and get them to send it internally.

The address on the website is given as -
Central Tax Unit, 9th Floor, 1 Hardman Boulevard, Manchester, M3 3AQ but in view of the chaos posted by elmophoebe I would take it into your branch, I did so on the 9th April and gave a transfer date of 1st May on the form, so now hoping it did go in the internal post ;)

I also had the usual problem with the poorly designed forms for the creation of the E-ISA and Transfer Requests. Having fudged my way through them I crossed out what I did not want and put in what I did (partial transfer from Nationwide after 60 day notice period of £26400) - as well as having to write in the account reference.

I have just been informed that they have transferred £26600 on the 15th April - wrong amount and not at end of notice period!

I am therefore going to be penalised 60 days interest - is this at their current rate (.75%)? - which I can certainly live with as I should get 3.5% on the NatWest one - or an arbitrary rate to suit they to maximise the penalty?

This is actually for my Wife, my request is still in limbo. Pretty disgraceful and incompetent service in my opinion :(

    Regards

I took the completed form into branch today and they will send it via internal post for me. I was told it would take 5 days to open the account so I'll keep checking online for the account to appear.

I've just noticed that on the following link there is a 'Chat button' speak to a savings adviser

I don't recall it being there last week ?

Maybe something they are working on because it has gone now, I did see it, honestly ;)

I was browsing the NatWest website on Monday 20th April for the e-ISA and historic ISA interest rates, when up popped a NatWest chat window. I studied the URL which confirmed that it was genuine. The person in the chat was very helpful, answered several questions, and pointed me in the right direction on the website. As you say, looks like the chat was in trial mode because I cannot find any sign of it now.

It's a bit like now you see it, now you don't :D

I go with the trial mode as well neilsedaka as I saw it again briefly last night.

A small green chat box appears under 'Apply or transfer now'

Just had a chat with a savings adviser and asked if the chat service was being trialled and was told that it is live, so if you want to give it a go ...
