Agree that the whole process was very confused even for existing customers. I put 1st May as the transfer date on two forms, the first transfer has now appeared in my account dated 12th plus interest up to the 6th when the account was closed, so waiting for the second transfer to show up now.

I wouldn't mind if it hadn't taken almost 4 weeks to open a savings account, which I'm not going to use, just so I can open the ISA.

I have to entirely agree with you,a total shambles.
I`ve not even got as far as opening an E-ISA.
I`m still, after a month, trying to to set-up and get access to an E-Saver,which for some strange reason, you need to have first!
Out of curiosity who did you go with in the end?
You can open both the e-savings and e-ISA simultaneously.

Thanks Steve, but when it takes near a month to open an ESaver,it hardly inspires confidence to try two things at a time with them and I can`t even guess what they`d do with an ISA transfer.
I`m at the stage now thinking whether Natwest is such a good idea.

I've recently been looking at opeing one of these accounts. The process is confusing so I ended up going to a branch yesterday to see if they could help out. Big mistake that, they can't open an e-Savings account in the branch only one of the lower rate branch type accounts.

The person they assigned to me was intent on trying to push some product on me before I left. I ended up being told I should be investing in a Stocks and Shares ISA. Not being one for pushy sales tactics I won't be continuing the application for one of these accounts. I may end up looking at the Barclays offering instead.

OK this is not as difficut as it may first appear.

Go online and open the e-ISA account. At the end of that process simply go on to open a First Reserve Account and your personal details from the submission of the e-ISA application will be used to populate the data fields for the First Reserve account.

Thanks. I eventually worked this out yesterday after returning from the branch visit.

I was debating whether or not to open this Isa, my first one. I read Steves post above and have successfully opened an e-isa and First Reserve account with no problems (so far).

    Excellent, well done.

It does take a while for Natwest to process things but they get there in the end it seems.

I agree that it is way too confusing to sort this out. The initial problem I had was that the branch staff didn't have a clue and refused to help out saying they don't get involved with E-Isa's. Once I got the accounts opened up (2 weeks) it only took just over 2 weeks for the transfer to go through. I though NS&I were always really helpful and professional but their 1.3% is paltry compared to the 3.51% with Natwest.
