Just to let you all know, I was posting last week about calling HSBC to claim some of my charges back and they have offered £160, they owe me approx £500 but I am accepting their 'gesture of goodwill' until we hear about the court case :jMember of Quidco and Dooyoo

I have successfully negotiated on behalf of my daughter, to reclaim bank charges on an account miss sold to her.
HALIFAX, have agreed to refund £1379.00. It took us about 6 weeks. The funds are due to be credited any day now. We had to sign a letter to confirm we agreed the refund.
I am so excited, as my daughter has learning difficulties and could not understand the way the charges were workedout. As she is on minimum benefits, she has been trying to exist on practically nothing for over a year now.
Big thankyou to :money: for the template letters!. :T:T
It is worth the effort of asking. :beer:When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Well, I have had a massive arguement with the bank about the charges that they have said they will not refund.
Apparently, I can not read properly and I should read a letter fully before phoning! I am making a complaint and still fighting to get the money back!
Just stick in there, it will come right in the end!!0 -
Hi , i have just been turned down by the natwest for hardship although we went behind 2 months on loan payment and was paying back extra on mortgage as we had a deal with natwest last november as wife went on monthly pay we payed half our mortgage and agreed to pay half of the rest over 9 months ,,, we kept getting letters from natwest saying that we hadnt kept up the agreed extra payments on mortgage and was being charged for this ,,, when i phoned i was told that it hadnt been put into the system porperly and then was told it was our fault for not paying it ,,, this has gone one each month till last month and inbetween they have hit us serviourly with charges which have over the past few months left us unable to pay others bills , credit card payments which i have proved ,, struggled for money towards gas and electric ,,, i have been on the phone many times and each time they blame me charges, which for the last 2 months alone were over 700 ,, as i said to them they failed to set up the agreed exra payment but have blamed us for not paying it and each time i have phoned they set it back up or so i think till next month ,, i had my overdraft taken off me as they said i broke the agreed aragment by not paying extra ,, that tokk most of my monthly pay when they did that ,, i want to continue chashing this have i a case ,any help will be gratefully apreciated0

I'm not sure you have a case on financial hardship but you may have with regards to maladministration of the account by the bank. Can I ask you whether you ever formally complained to the bank about them not setting an arrangement as agreed?
Have you ever done so in writing?
What was the cause of the charges? Was it that the bank took the full payment rather than the agreed half payment?
We may be looking at bank error for some of the charges in the last 9 months.0 -
Hi all new to this site but have just sent my request to Natwest with a £5 postal order asking for the list of charges i know full well it is nearly £400 in the last two months, just not sure if i will get by on the hardship route, I have a partner who works part time only 20 hours per week, i was made redundant in Dec 08 then got hit by deppression and stress, was off work on company sick pay for 7 months ( approx £250) month, have arrears on mortgage of over £7k, collection companies on phone every day, council tax not being payed and being taken to court if not already, have to pay baillifs for last years council tax already water rates not payed either, finally found a temp job working for ironically a bank refunding PPI claims but wage seems to go nowhere last week got hit by £152 charges which bounced an agreed mortgage payment so will get another charge for that too, am at my wits end and just dont know where to turn, any advice would be most appreciated0

Can I ask what the debt collection agencies are chasing you for?
Which bank is it that you are reclaiming from?0
