With the credit card debts we need to get more info unless you have kept all the statements from them. If you have then reclaim the whole of the charges since the card was opened. It may substantially reduce your arrears and it will keep the DCA's off your back.0 -
Sorry to ask but do you think i stand a good chance of using the hardship route ?0

You have mortgage arrears, you have council tax arrears and lifestyle event.
I think we have a chance on this one but we gotta try and get everything not just bank charges.0 -
Problem is i am a bit of an ostrich and have been burying my head for years so have no idea what account numbers for credit cards are, and will i still be able to claim if they have been passed to debt collection agency ?0

.
You can claim from the bank and the debt collection agency may have to go and take a long leap of a cliff if the amount is higher than than the amount you owe.
If you have been defaulted then your credit report maybe the route of getting the details of them. There are other things as well but the credit report is the first part.0 -
Hello All
I would really value some advice please.
I applied to the First Trust Bank in Belfast under financial hardship as I had moved to a lower paying job and because of a number of OTHER errors on their part, my account was all over the place (they were paying the full balance off my credit card each month rather than 3% which I had agreed with them - resulting in me having to live on my credit card). Anyway.... yesterday I received a (very grudging offer) of £1137 - about a third of the charges that had applied to my account since 2001 (no interest applied). They talk about this being a full and final 'hardship' payment but say at the end of the letter that my ongoing complaint about bank charges will remain open until the results of the Supreme Court Ruling. Basically, I just want to be VERY clear that when I accept their FULL AND FINAL offer, it does not jeopardise the rest of my claim. Obviously 1137.00 would come in very handy at the moment! I would really appreciate any advice you may have. Lots of love to you all Stephanie0 -
Are the banks internally doing a U turn on their approach ?
I applied to Shabbey on 2 accounts I have with them and argued my case for Financial difficulty. They responded saying they did not agree as non priority debts, blah blah blah.
I then left it at that, as I felt I was p*ssing in the wind. Roughly 4 months later though and completely out of the blue, I receive 2 seperate letters (1 for each account) from them explaining that they now consider I am in FH and will make a reimbursement to help my situation. (albeit works outs to be just under 10% of each of my claims) wheh hey great I first thought, but then I started thinking, what has made them do this U turn ?
Are they conceeding that maybe just maybe Wednesday may not go well and therefore wish to appear that they have helped their customers in their time of need and also so they cannot be critisiced should the FOS / court become involed.
Anybody else felt the effect of the cogs churning away behind the big banks closed doors ?If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!!0 -

The FSA have been getting onto the bank with regards to how they deal with Financial Hardship claims so they may have re evaluated how they decide.
Who knows but a good start none the less.0
