success halifax
Amount Claimed £1649.00
Amount Received £2115.00.
Started back in 2007 when i requested all my charges back, got the usually letters saying that the charges were lawful etc etc.
Phoned the bank and they agreed to ring me back with an offer, but the following day all the charges were put on hold due to the court case. Was really cheesed off and thought that was it until after the banks had been to court. But out of the blue got a phone call saying they would refund all my charges back all i needed to do was sign a form they were sending out first class and that was that, i few days later all the money was in my account.
Don't give up i wanted to a few times but glad i stuck to my guns, never thought i would be on this site writing a success story.:beer:0 -
:T :j I took Martins advice and followed the claim charges letter to a tee and 'A Presto' not only have the bank reimbursed the charges for the past five years but have also cancelled end of month interest charges and any charges if I slip over my overdraft limit. What a RESULY Thanks Martin, it does work

how long did it take from your initial letter Roger?
Thge whole process took under 6 weeks, start to finish. The money was in the bank within a week after signing my acceptence form. But this made me smile 'it was done as a gesture of good will'. I do wonder how many other receipents have been gestures of good. Follow Martins letters and good advice. Goodluck!

Amount Claimed £1500
Amount Recieved £400
A bit of a strange one really. Sent off a letter about two month ago claiming a refund, and financial hardship. Got a letter back about a week later saying thank you for your letter blah blah blah, we will hold your complaint until after the test case. Quite clear they did not read my original letter claiming hardship. Sent a stronger letter back, and recieved an apology shortly after for not taking the time to read my previous letter, with income/expenditure form. Put my life story with it, saying how much this has damaged me, and heard nothing. Yesterday my balance was £400 richer, due to 2008 charges refund. Nothing else. No letter, no mention of more refund to come.0 -

Bank: Halifax
Amount claimed: £2,130
Amount offered: £2,200
I took your advice and applied to reclaim my bank charges as I lost my job during the summer and am now earning less than I was, so was classed as being in financial hardship. I sent my claim off on the 15th September and this morning received the letter saying that Halifax were going to pay me back MORE than I asked for. Halifax are saying this is a gesture of goodwill and are not admitting responsibility but quite frankly I don't care!
Am very pleased with the result and must say a MASSIVE thank you to Martin as I would never have even thought of applying until I read his section on financial hardship.0 -
Bank: Halifax
Amount reclaimed - 1st Account: £234
Amount agreed by bank - £977 (how does that work??)
Bank: Halifax
Amount reclaimed - 2nd Account: £7,300.01
Amount agreed by bank - £5,625
Just did as Martin's extremely helpful email suggested! Filled out the financial statement forms that the bank sent me and Bob's your uncle! Because of being on benefits and having more money going out than coming in, we have convinced the bank of our hardship case. Very happy!0 -
Bank:Abbey
Amount claimed: £3500
Amount offered: £1900
I initially started my claim in june 2007 with sending them letter after letter to reclaim my charges. Then the case was put on hold which stopped me in my tracks:mad: . As alot of you could understand this was very annoying! I noticed that thanks to :money: and his excellent advice i was able to proceed via the financial hardship route which would get my claim looked at.After sending my own and the banks financial expenditure form i finaly got an offer £1900. At least its something but i am sticking to my guns and going for the full amount. Has anyone else stayed with claiming the full amount and succeeded even after theyve been given a poor offer?0
