i find that where electron isnt accepted online - if u try putting it in as a VISA CREDIT CARD - it mostly goes through. my card has only been refused once when trying this !
takes a bit longer to come out of your bank account tho0 -
Also just discovered NEXT take Electron online too
Shame I didn't know this when their sale began!!
(hubby probably thinks it's a very good thing i didn't know!) ;D0 -
I'm with the halifax too.
Initially I had a switch account then due to paying in less than £1000 they issued a solo card, Initially I found this solo card a hindrence and then when everywhere started taking it they went with visa electron
Not nearly enough shops take it and I cant wait to get another bank account, I'm currently building up my credit history and will try for a current account again.
I did try with the Halifax but they declined me twice despite the fact that they kept my OD on this account when they downgraded me and are quite happy to charge me interest on it (this has since been taken off) the fact I have a good amount in my savings account with them and I now currently pay in over £1000 a month. My history on my visa card is good also as they have upped my limit twice in view of good account management. (and no I havent maxed it)
The advisor I saw regarding this was extremely baffled as he said the bank would have no problems giving me a £7000 loan but would still say NO to a current account.
I was recommended cahoot to try, does anybody think that this is still a good account to go for seeing as I shop mostly online and like to manage my account online?
* It might be worth adding kwick save, iceland, Disney store, HMV, BHS and superdrug to the list I shop at these places and they take electron. Its worth mentioning tho Iceland wont offer you cashback with this card.0 -
I'm glad I'm not the only one ranting about this. They've done exactly the same to me, and despite me being a customer for nearly 20 years they refuse to upgrade my account.
So I toddled over to Nat West who do issue Solo cards with their basic accounts and as soon as I get my passport through (means of ID as required) I have been told they have no problem with me having one.
In the meantime, I am going to be using my Barclaycard to do my Tesco online shop and then immediately paying the money off my card with my Halifax online banking.
And to add insult to injury I have been sent my Visa Electron a full month before my solo card runs out, I rang up to check that I could still use my solo card until the end of the month and found it will be unusable after the 7th MarchOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
