Thanks. I would rather have an internal one, but if I cant find one to fit at a more realistic price than Dells £32 that one will do0
-
Can you fit additional drives to these PC without buying mounting brackets etc??
I want to fit 2 DVD drives and a floppy drive?
Will this be possible??Waddle you do eh?0 -
Why do you need a floppy drive? Do you know what year we are in?!0
-
Its the other half who wants the floppy drive I think he will always be in the 20th century, I keep trying0
-
Tell him they don't make floppy drives any more ;D Seriously, £30 gets you a Dell floppy drive OR 512mb flash memory. You'd have to buy disks for the drive too
There is also the CDRW. 0 -
hi all,
be a little be wary of dell - they're going thru big problems with their online ordering system at the moment. I ordered 2 of these machines when the offer was at £155. They screwed up the order, sent a single pc with a reduced spec, and upped the price to £211 with a monitor. I know its good value still, but the changes were quite severe:
monitor (none was ordered)
cpu: Celeron 2.6 (arrived with 2.4)
hard drive 80 gig (arrived with 40 gig)
modem (none was ordered)
so far i've talked to 19 people and spent nearly 3 hrs on the phone - but only today am I looking like getting sorted. Don't let this stop you buying stuff from them though, because from what I've seen in the past, the screw ups work both ways .....0 -
I got what I paid for and quick too. 2.6, 256mb, cdrom, 80gb hdd and onboard nic.... It is just excellent.
Cheers

I bought one of the Dimension 3000s with the 15" TFT screen for £306.68 and it arrived early, exactly as ordered.
Works a treat straight out of the box.
Space for a second DVD/CD drive if anyone wanted to install one. You could probably fit a second hard drive behind the fascia if you felt like it, but you'd need a mounting kit.
Didn't get a floppy drive with mine because I use a USB memory stick and this worked perfectly with this PC. In fact I'm currently checking through a huge pile of VERY old and unused floppies to see if there is anything too precious to lose, then the entire lot is going in the bin (although I may keep a few to amaze my grandkids with in about 20 years time, along with my collection of punched cards, mag tape, proper floppies etc.
) You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
Still waiting for mine, i ordered on the Dec 15th :-/ :-/0

can anyone confirm the model number of the motherboard on the 2400 and whether it will take a p4 processor upgrade please (or do they use a different motherboard if you require a p4 processor?)
escapee
I have ordered a 2.4 celeron 2400 and although it will handle what i require it for i would be happy if it is upgradable to a P4 processor.0
