When I set up a Direct Debit does the company have to email/write to me saying when the payments will be taken?

I have had a letter about my Marie Claire sub & my Family Circle one both saying they will take initial payment on the 5th April. I have had the free gifts from PC Pro (Rolson Tool Kit) & Computer World (Maglite Torch) but no other correspondance. I have currently got 12 trial subs out to different magazines (3 which are 99p payments, 8 which are £1 payments & 1 which is £3 payment).

I have had a £1 Initial Payment from Dennis Publishing on 15th March & I have both a 99p & a £1 Initial Payment showing for National Magazine (I'm presuming this is the publishers as I haven't subbed to a magazine called this) coming out on the 20th March.

I have looked at my list of Direct Debit's online it shows a Dennis Publishing come out on 15th March for £1 with a reference number & ONE National Magazine coming out on the 20th March for £1 with a reference number but it doesn't list the 99p showing as coming out, although it is showing on my statement (Does that make sense?)

Just looked at my email confirmation subs and they all have dates of when DD will be taken, i have received letters to to confirm my sub but honestly can't remember if the dates of DD are on those, think it's just confirming sub and payment details but couldn't swear to it ?

Have you checked through your email confirmations, they should have dates on them

I have just looked through my emails, never thought to check before, and I have 2 which were due to be taken on the 17th March so I'm presuming that those coming out on the 20th March are these 2 but don't know why it's delayed by a few days.

I signed up for 3 different offers in a row (after clearing cookies and signing in again) through Quidco to Magazine Shop nearly two weeks ago - the order went through according to the web page but due to printer packing up, I didn't manage to print off the confirmation. No problem, I thought, I will get email confirmation from Magazine Shop as I had done the previous week. No email confirmation, no sign of orders being tracked on Quidco? Anyone else had problems like this?

I've had 3 not show up or email confirmation and 3 that worked fine this week.

I did not get any confirmations either for the 3 I did last week, though they have tracked thru Quidco.

2 have now set up direct debits.

I think these mag companies are getting wise to serial subscribers and cancellers!!! I applied for a few recently through https://www.subscriptions.co.uk
and the confirmation emails all have:
subscriber number : to be advised
Date of first dd: to be advised

No mags or free gift have arrived as has no correspondence of subs number or dd details. I think they have blocked any orders somehow.

Anyone else had this prob?

I never printed any of the confirmation's off but got them all through as emails.

I print the emails and highlight the dates and mag then keep them in order to try to keep on top of it.


Something else though - I've had Prima for about 3 years and only pay £12 a year as when I had it it was on offer and I said I wouldnt renew if it cost more so its always stayed at the same price.

The thing is though, when I was in Asda today I saw there was a free mascara with April Prima. Now I've had my magazine and no free gift.

Infact when I was telling the OH I said I havent had a free gift since I started and as they come by post I never bothered looking in the shops to see if there should have been something.

What I want to know is if you have a sub dont you still get the free gifts the same as if you bought the magazine in a shop. I'm sure I used to when I had Essentials one year.
