A dog killed my cat yesterday (Update p.2)

I know exactly how you feel and am truely sorry for your sad loss.
Unfortunately I lost Tabby, my healthy 14 year old cat on 1st March 2009 after my neighbours dog had her in its mouth. I believe she died of shock, maybe through a heartattack. I was told that she had, had a fit and foamed at the mouth. I researched the internet and believe these are symptons of organ failure.
I do have good neighbours, they don't let their dogs roam the streets and she was honest to admit what had hapened. I believe it to be an unfortunate accident.
It is in certain dog breeds nature, such as Jack Russels, to catch small animals. It is ultimately the responsibility of the owner. You can't blame the dog, it is doing what comes natural. It does not understand our worlds right from wrong unless it has been trained. Yes, I also have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is very good with cats and other animals, but he knows it is wrong to chase cats, etc. I don't think he was interested in them before I adopted him.
Having Tabby for so long , I miss her very much. She always used to run to greet me home, was very verble and affectionate, but leaves me with happy memories and a tear in my eye.

I came on here looking for advice because my cat has gone missing and i've been out looking for him all day. The guy across the street has a rotwieler dog (if thats how you spell it) and he lets it run about loose, it was running about outside earlier on about the same time as my cat went missing and im petrified incase something has happened to him. The owner of the dog is the type of person that would just dispose of the cat and keep his mouth shut for fear of getting in trouble if anything like that were to happen. Its the first time Misty has ever been out of the house and he is scared of his own shadow so i know something has probably happened to him.
I do hope you find your cat. One of my other cats went missing for two weeks once, a neighbour found her in a dissused shop mewing at the window. It is very likely he could be shut in somewhere so check all your neighbours sheds ect. I put up posters everywhere and through letterboxs i think the whole village new she was missing. Let us know when you find him. x0 -

So sorry.. RIP tabbycat x0 -
Unfortunately, the same thing happened to one of my cats 5 years ago. A greyhound was let loose out of his garden and the first thing I saw was my cat being chased by the greyhound, then tossing her and shaking her like she was a rag. I tried to grab the dog but every time I tried he ran off thinking it was some kind of a game!
The owner came out and basically told me to 'calm down woman, its only a cat!'
There were witnesses...all were shocked at the owners comment and did say they would definitely talk to the police if I got them involved.
I blame the owner...the dog should have definitely had a muzzle on knowing full well that it would attack.
My thoughts are with you xSingle, free and young (ish) :heartpuls0 -

Sorry to say, but I would of punched him for that comment
I always blame the owners too, not the dogs.I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -

I know exactly what you are going through.
My cat sambo died when I was 10 years old, she went missing and we couldnt find her, and we put posters up asking if anyone had seen her.
Then mam got a phone call of a woman down the estate, she saw what happened to Sambo, she was being chased by 2 dogs and in her panic she tried to climb up a lampost and of course that didnt work and the dogs got a hold of her.
The woman chased the dogs away but Sambo was gone, the lady buried her in her garden.
