MIPAY Talkmobile - Strange Charge
Comments

HSBC have credited my account as of yesterday. No explanation but nevertheless the money is back where it should be
That said on the back of the recent surge in people adding to the thread i've forwarded a link to Watchdog. See whether they can get to the bottom of all this as the information we as consumers are getting seems limited.....!

Something needs to be done judging by this thread, and the o2 thread above this one.0

Hi
I am with first direct and have also had 30 quid taken from my account by these fraudsters on the 6th April. I notified first direct on the 7th April and their reply was to ring the company up and ask them about it! Since reading the threads in this forum I have written to them again showing them this thread. I hope I get my money back as they were not overly interested when I first informed them0 -
I've had the same £30 debit card transaction for Mipay Talkmobile even though I have a contract with vodafone. Contacted RBS fraud section and had my card cancelled.
Afterwards I remembered that I'd received a strange email from talkmobile which I hadn't opened, thinking it was spam. Dug through my trash folder and found an email for a topup for £30 on the 10 April with a mobile number - all of which I've since given to the bank to investigate. Bank says it takes up to 10 days for them to get back to me. Also checked my credit report and everything looks ok there.
Anyone else received an email too?0 -
Haven't had an email but had a strange telephone call on my landline from someone from TALK TALK. They started off saying i was a british gas customer and paid by direct debit (which I don't) I obviously didnt give them any info they then said they were from TALK TALK Anyone else had one of these calls before losing money throughMIPAY?0

The banks/ building societies also have concerns over Carphone Warehouse, ( the linked company ). I had a valid transaction to them blocked by my card provider, Nationwide, they told me it was because of the high amount of fraudulant activity that is linked with CPW.
I had exactly the same issue with CPW with my Virgin credit card that I had used for years with no problems.
CPW = Poor company IMHO.0 -
I've just noticed 2 strange transactions on my HCBC account - both for £30 showing on 14th April, one for O2 prepay, the other mipay talkmobile. As my memory's shocking, I rang the bank to remind me if these were indeed bona fide transactions... they said both were taken early morning on 9 and 11th April and I should get a refund from O2 and Mipay!
After googling mipay and seeing this forum I felt more confident about pressing for a refund from HSBC which I've just done, after a barrage of questions. Had to cancel my card too which is a pain.
Got to be some disgruntled employee of HSBC/Orange selling card numbers...
Remind all you know to check their bank statements, these operators bank on people not noticing the odd £30 coming out of their account.0 -
Yup, just checked my account and been stung on this one too, same £30 amount, same company. By the way I am with RBS, have a Maestro card (which was the one used) and am PAYG with O2. Spoke to fraud department and card is cancelled now.
Funnily enough I watched something on the one show on BBC about stuff like this and thought at least it has not happened to me yet but now it has.
Although its not a great deal of money, I am still annoyed that this has happened in the first place and I doubt very much this will be the last. As someone said about disgruntled ex-bank employees I would consider the likelihood of things like this will increase.0 -
I bank with the co-op and have had the same charge on my visa credit card on the 16th April. After searching the Internet for the company name (as I didnt recognise it) and reading this thread, I have reported it to the bank and cancelled my card.
Now I've just got to wait for 2 weeks for my bank's fraud dept to ring me back! Very annoying and inconvenient!0 -
Us too, we were just checking with online banking and noticed a debit neither of us could account for. Same as many of you, 6th April mypay brookwood surrey. Just contacted the telephone banking part of our bank and it turned out to be my husbands card which has now been cancelled. We will need to follow this up in the morning with the bank themselves, before we can find out what will happen.
All I know for sure, is that we will NOT be making any more phone top ups to t-mobile or 02 for our daughters anymore, they will just have to go into the shops and buy the top up over the counter from now on.
We were a little confused about this whole thing, and found you guys by trying to search the term MYPAY. Thanks for the heads up and vital info guys, much appreciated.0
