    Do you have a Maestro card? If so, looks to me like someone is using your card to gain mobile phone top-ups.

    In which case, it's a card fraud issue and nothing to do with Mi-Pay Talkmobile - I'm guessing like all retailers they just process the transaction from the card details provided. Unless your card is reported lost or stolen or the bank suspects its fraudulent use, then the payment will go through.

    You should cancel your card and report it to your bank immediately.

    Worth remembering that the difference between Maestro cards and normal debit cards is that the customer, not the bank foots the bill as chargebacks are not allowed.

    Good luck.

    .

    Strange, I thought that Maestro Cards were " normal " Debit Cards.:confused:
  • Just a quick update;

    Still no news from HSBC and in light of the majority of the affected being HSBC customers i've emailed HSBC providing a link to this thread! Not sure what, if anything, will come of it but nonetheless thought it was worth a go.

    I would urge any other people who have seen the charge reply on this thread so we (bank customers) can gauge the extent of the problem...
  • I am an RBS customer and had £30 fraudulently debited from Mipay Talkmobile on 7 Apr 09. It was done under my partners card and he always has it on him and the only 2 places he uses it is tesco and a spar shop, has anyone else affected used these retailers recently???

    Seems very strange also that the majority is HSBC.

    I got hit for £30.00 also from my RBOS account on 6th April. I have used a Spar shop recently, maybe just a coincidence though.

    The fraud team at RBOS would not tell me too much but it was very apparent they know all about Mipay Talkmobile!

    My card now cancelled and hopefully I will get my money back!

    The banks/ building societies also have concerns over Carphone Warehouse, ( the linked company ). I had a valid transaction to them blocked by my card provider, Nationwide, they told me it was because of the high amount of fraudulant activity that is linked with CPW.
