On the topic of Liverpool plus Beatles rip-offery, £25 for a couple to enter the Beatles Story in Liverpool Dock - of only one half of that couiple is seriously interested, this is a very pricey way to spend an hour.
I'd agree that it is very pricey - however the disinterested party could walk about 400 yards and visit the Tate or The Maritime Museum for free.
In fact, the International Slavery Museum (housed in the Maritime) has a really interesting music section, charting the influence of black music from Africa to today.
You'd learn more about music there than in the Beatles Story place.US housing: it's not a bubble

No? Didn't think so
No one has to buy them !
Some people like buying music - simple as that.
I bet at least 50% of the people who buy the mono, will also buy the stereo.
I like football & sport, but I'd rather buy the mono set for £200 than pay the same to watch 4 Premier League games, watch 3 days of Ashes cricket or go to Cheltenham races for the day.US housing: it's not a bubble

@kennyboy66 - yes, we had already done the Slavery and also the Customs museum by then (free or very cheap, can't remember). If Liverpool council can provide these great museums to the public, why is a private co making so much on the Beatles Story?
BTW at Albert Dock development there is also a sublime Curry place.0 -

Partly because of the quality of their collections (Walker ,World Museum Liverpool and Maritime Musuem) and partly I guess as a legacy of Militant in the 1980's, the museums in Liverpool are "National museums" and hence enjoy funding from central government (so similar funding source as say British Museum in London).
I've never been but always guessed that the Beatles Story is more similar to Madame Tussauds or similar "tourist" attractions.US housing: it's not a bubble

On the topic of the Customs Museum, which is surprisingly interesting, one Exhibits happens to be some Gold Beatles Records that had been held by Liverpool Customs for umpteen years due to incorrect paperwork from Apple. They were bequeathed to the Museum when they were finally 'released'.0
