I made a bolognaise the other night with a Dolmio tomato sauce and hubby spilt some down his favourite pale blue t.shirt (yes, I know, but he insists on wearing it at meal times!). I've tried white vinegar, borax and shop bought stain removers, but there's still a very obvious stain there.
Anyone got any suggestions please. ???
Thanks!

Borax (available from boots £2.10, for a biggish box) worked for the last bolognaise stain I had to deal with.
I soaked stain in warm water with washing powder, then poured borax directly onto stain (whilst still in the water). Left for a while, then scrubbed lightly, and finally washed in the normal way.

I'll be trying these too. Went out for a tapas meal the other night and managed to get Patatas Bravas sauce (I presume tomato-ish based?) stain on my top! try soaking in cold water and leaving on washing line in the rain for a few days ;DI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I do not want to sound like an advert but when we went on holiday my youngest (10) got tomato ketchup all over her trousers and had to walk around all day like that. We did not get home till 2 days later and I put them in a normal wash programme with Surf, which claims to remove nearly all stains. I did not expect much but it worked brilliantly and got everything out.
Even my daughters who roll their eyes when I try to show or tell them anything were impressed and that is not easy.
Another thing to try is Astonish oxi (only 99p) - dissolve some in warm water and immerse the item all day or overnight. This has worked where more expensive stain removers have been useless.
Good luck."This site is addictive!"

Hello shopndrop
Don't put it in the washing machine yet.
Using cold water and a bar of soap, gently rub the stain and rinse under the running cold tap.....repeat until the stain starts to disappear. When you're happy that the stain has gone (or almost gone), it's safe to put the shirt in the washing machine.
Use Ariel Biological automatic powder in the machine and the shirt should come out totally clean.
I'll move your thread over to the 'Old Style' board, where the Board Guides may want to merge it with another 'stain removal' similar thread.;)
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Hi
I find Ace bleach is brilliant for removing stains. I decant it into a spray bottle as it makes it very economical to use that way. I keep it upstairs and if I notice a stain on clothing, I spray it immediately it goes in the laundry basket.and I find by the time it gets washed 9 out 10 times the stain is completely gone. I think it costs about £1.99 but as I say if you put in a spray it lasts for ages.
