  • If when it comes out of the wash it still has some tomato staining hang it on the washing line facing the sun and by the time it dries the stain should be gone. Always worked for me on baby food stains and the white dress my daughter got tomato soup down on Thursday.
  • Thanks so much to you all

Sons t shirt is covered in tesco own washing up liquid, i gave it abit of a jiggle on the shirt. So hopefully in the morning i can give it a quick rinse in cold water... then if the sun is out... will hang it facing that way ;)

Sunlight is great for removing tomato stains. If it was me with the stain I would put the top out on the line in a sunny spot to dry, it should come out with no trouble, if its still slightly there, then wash it again, and line dry in the sun again, that should get rid of it.

Years ago, en route to the USA, I spilt tomato juice on a cream skirt - the air hostess whipped out a can of 7-up and mopped me down with the contents - absolutely no stain left when it dried!

Have you tried neat washing up liquid gently rubbed in to the stain before washing? I find that usually works - if not then repeat!
