I have registered myself & i got the confirmation mail after about 30mins but there was no option as to click any link to confirm the subscription. It simply gave my customer I.D no. & other subscription details.

Its for the first time i am trying to call through it.I have telewest exchange provider & what i am dialing is

    1st step......dilaing, 0808170 7474

2nd step,....wait for the voice prompt...it says welcome ,dial your destination no. followed by hash key

3rd step......dialing international code i.e 1 for USA followed by my destination no. & then hash key

4th step...it says that your dialled no. has not been recognized.

I am not dialling 1899 at any step of the call.

I have tried to call both landline & mobile nos. for USA but everytime it gives me the same msg.

I hope, now i have made myself clear & now u will find it easy to understand & help me out!
  • Think its maybe because you should be dialing a zero or 2 before the 1 for USA? Sorry not sure what it is as I don't call USA but to call NZ I have to dial 00 first.

Have you tried dialing a friend in UK just to try the system?

edited to say: Just checked the telephone directory and to access USA the number is 001. This should do it :D

hi edin...sorry for bothering u again...actually i am stuck with the same problem.Actually in the morning i just called the no. in USA & waited for the ring & then hanged up the phone because it was night time in USA at that time.

Now when i have tried to call again to USA, then again I am getting the same msg that your no. has not been recognized just after 2 ringtones.I have dialled both using 00 before 1 & also without using 00 ,but its not working..

    Please help me!
  • I see 1899 give you an alternative number to try so why not give that one and try and dial a friend here but remember to use the entire phone number including the area code.

edit: to remove the number, there is no alternative number. The other number they give is for use with a mobile.

Be careful here. The 0207 number is a London number and you would incur a charge as though it was a UK national number, plus the charge from 1899.com for the USA portion of the call. Using the 0808 number you would not incur this charge because it is a freephone number.
