  • Sad how people have a little argument over a very minor point when the thread is not about them but about some weird person who WANTS to work.
And if, you know, your history...

My sons not weird! Just being brought up with a work ethic - you want money then work for it. He is very keen to earn his own money, if thats weird then so be it!
    NEVER ASSUME!
  • It is extremely hard to get a job at that age - its not as much what your "allowed to do" its more about who will employ you at 13.
  • Hi i'm a 13 year old and i have previously worked in a charity shop as a volunteer, i done this for a few months before taking up a after school paper-round for a free local paper. This was hard work for the amount of money i was paid and the pressure to put all separate leaflets and advertisments into the paper, it wasn't worth it so i was helped by a friend and we shared the wages, we both decided to quit this job and go without one... luckily for me i noticed an advertisment for a morning paper-rouund in my local paper shop this was about 30 papers on saturday and sunday morning and i got paid more than what i did for 300.Sadly the papershop owners took a retirment and i am now without a job. I researched what 13 year olds can do as jobs and we can work 2 hours after/before school or one hour before and one hour after on monday to friday. But at the weekends we can work up to 4 or 5 hours. This is only if the job doesn't involve handling alchohol or cigarettes etc. sorry for writing so much, but i feel its necesary to the subject =D

He can work for friends, relatives and neighbours. Surely some of them need cars washing or lawns mowing or a bit of fetching and carrying. Ask around you may be surprised at what crops up.

  • i think no organized business will give him job. but he can get job in any shop, house etc to do minor jobs like distribute papers , advertise business etc .however always keep his safety in mind . Best way is to first know interest of your child then contact employer directly to get job for him

    Thanks guys.

We are still keeping our eyes open & have put his name down for a couple of paper rounds. A friend who is a self employed plasterer (sp!) says he may have the odd day for him helping, just running about for him, sweeping mixing etc.

Any ideas & experiences aer very helpful though.
    NEVER ASSUME!

When i was 13, my main income came from internet Forums.

Dealing on eBay, selling high, buying low.

Simple as that, I used to make a good £60 a week from just 2 eBay sales, much better than the £16 a week my mate was getting paid for doing a paper round on Saturday AND Sunday.......

My advice would be go for electronic products, thats where i used to find most of my money.
