There are strict regulations about child employment. I don't think that children can be legally employed until they are 13.
There is some information on these websites:

My parents recently got a little leaflet through the door, from their 13 year old neighbour, offering to do shopping or cleaning, or errands etc. She only posted her road. I dont know what success she has had, but I thought it was a good idea.
I worked when I was 13 in bakery in 1992 (it was about a week before my 14th bday). I was absolutely desperate to work, had been from the age of about 8 - I should have been born in Victorian times, I'd have been down in the mines at 5.0 -
Hey
My DD is 10, 11 in december and thats all she goes on about..lol. She would love to have a little job and earn some pennies. We do as much as we can but we cap her pocket money at £2.50, so she does little jobs around the house and we pay her..lol.
She does occasionally help her granny do some dusting, hoovering etc and she normally gets few quid for that. OH has suggested him doing a paper round and her helping but i think its too much grief!
What about washing cars, I would assume that as long as their is an adult there it should be ok-but I dont know for definite

good for her. Parsnips- you have taught her well that money is to be earned.
Car washing, dog walking, shoe cleaning all counts.
Child modelling?!
Is there anything that she could make (like cards/jewellery/scoobies etc) which you could sell on ebay for her?
Run out of ideas now!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

we did the paper round thing. i took it out in my name and we did it together. the good things about it were a) that because i had use of a car we got a round straight off but at the other end of town where there was a vacancy and b) its good exercise for you both. however if you do decide to do this try to bag a round with terrace houses (no gates, drives etc)0

We were lucky, DD2 desperately wanted a job at 12 too, when she'd just turned 13, someone who I knew from a comittee had just started to rent a holiday cottage, and needed someone to help her clean on 'change over day'. So for the last 12 months she's worked 10am 'till 2ish on most Saturdays, earning £4.00 an hour!
Since her 14th birthday, she's also got a job as a waitress at a local hotel, she only usually works 2 shifts a week, either 6 while 10, or now in the holidays, 12noon 'till 3pm. She earns £3.00 an hour for this, and I think ...from the state of her when I pick her up, she works dam hard.
I wouldn't let her do anymore, coz she's starting her GCSE's in September.
Now DD1, is another story........baby sits once a week.....thats it....doesn't believe in working before you have to, and would rather be without money, than slave for anyone else!!!:j0 -
Perhaps this is more suited for a boy, but is there a golf club nearby? Maybe your daughter could get a job as a caddy.0

what age can they start babysitting? i know my daughter would be great at this because at family parties the little kids love her looking after them and she thrives off it.0

i started a thread about my daughter wanting a saturday job, as she was too young by law, I was wondering how much would you pay a 12 year old to walk your dog, wash your car etc thanks0
