Aarrrrrggghhhh!!!!! Indian Call Centres!

It's back to the script thing again I think. Anything that's slightly less than straightforward seems to cause confusion.
With regard to my Aol, if I phoned them now, I'm afraid I just don't have faith that the cancellation date would be correct. I have visions of it being cancelled now and I'll still have paid for a month's service that I can't access. At least if I call them nearer the time, I know the service is still accessible should I want to use it.
Again, I should say that the people who work in these calls centres are usually very nice and they do try to help. Unfortunately though for various reasons, the service they provide usually falls way short of satisfactory.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Then there was the changing address with my Debenhams card - GE Capital - are they a relation of capital one? I suspect that was an indian call centre as well. Yes we shouldn't assume but it can't be a coincidence that I phone up two companies and get women with heavily accented english which sounds suspiciously like an indian accent.
I've had bad experiences with the Debenhams call centre too!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

With these outlandish call centres it is either the accent that gets to me or the speed they talk, why oh why do they stick the call centres in such places where English seems to be a second language, or the accent is known only to locals. :-/0

The Debenhams card (GE Capital) have a call centre in Leeds and I believe they also have them in India.
My sister works for them.0 -
This is the short version.
How could any company have thought it was a good move to farm out their business to an Indian call centre?!
I've finally signed up for broadband today and figured it would be a good idea to call Aol, my dial-up isp to find out whether I needed to give some sort of cancellation notice or whether it took effect immediately.
Indian chappy answers phone and I explained that I didn't want my account cancelled today, I just wanted to know if I had to give notice.
He says he has to take me through procedure first, so he asks the usual identifying questions then asks why I'm leaving AOL. I explained my AOL service is now very bad because of log-on problems and dropped connections and I've had enough.
Ok says he, anything else? Yes, I'm getting broadband.
Who is your provider? I want to say none of your bloody business but I'm too polite, so I tell him. I also tell him again I just want the answer to my simple question. He ignores me and continues to ask questions.
Inbetween times, he CONTINUALLY says 'yes, thankyou I can help you'. I was beginning to worry that he had been brainwashed.
He managed to turn a simple 2 minute question into a 15 minute saga. ::)
He then says 'ok I will process your request.'
Nooooooooooo! I don't want to leave yet, I was only asking!!!!!!!
He then tells me at least 5 times that he now understands me and will leave my account untouched and that I should call 1 day before my next statement billing date to make sure I am not charged for another months service.
Why could he not just have said that at the start?!
I started the call as a level headed polite individual, I ended it as a frustrated loony pulling at her hair.
Aaaaaaarrrrgghghhhhh!
I work in Service Management and unfortunately the type of business is now being run by clueless muppets who think short term and not long term....short term cost saving at the expense of long term customer satisfaction
its all about cost savings....they dont care that their customers arent being satisfied or are getting their problems fixed.
Problem is what about Data Protection?Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
I never went with AOL after the bad things i had heard about them, a very techie mate of mine said that they are like a parasite when you load up that cd they give out. it gets into everything, apparently even word docs etc.... and is a pain in the bum to get rid of.
yep its true...and i thought viruses were illegal.Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

Hit on the head, very succinctly in two short sentances.
Why is it so hard for the powers that be to recognise this????!!!Herman - MP for all!0
