How do you know it was an Indian call centre?
You can normally tell by the phrases they use, for instance the "i can help you" thing.
If it's a UK call centre they dont say it as often...0 -
Also the fact that I was told by an Aol rep. that the customer service is now handled by a foreign call centre.
I'm assuming it's an Indian call centre because of the accent.
Btw, Ivan....you're so helpful, thanks for that. ::);D ;D ;D

What if it was a pakistani call centre? What would they deliver then.
what if the 'indian chappy' lived in the UK somewhere?
He could live in Ireland and it would still be a foreign call centre.
What if someone had answered with a different 'funny' accent?Val0 -
have we offended you. i assure you it wasn't intentional.0

When i have to call AOL i pray to get through to Ireland and not wherever it gets rerouted. The accent is really hard to understand and i feel embarassed having to keep asking them to repeat what it was they said. I recently had to call for a techie problem, it was hellish.
The chap on the phone was about as useful as a button on a sock. In the end, i figured out the problem myself. ::) I would change isps but it would be a HUGE pain in the butt changing my email address after 5 years. :-/"There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -

If you guys think you have problems you should try communicating with an indian call centre using a Northern Ireland accent. They can't understand us and we can't understand them (the entire conversation consists of them saying 'I am sorry but could you repeat that please?' and us saying 'what?' - although I must point out that their english is infinitely better than my Hindi. ;D
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
In the case of AOL customer service/technical service I find that the Indian (probably??) call centre staff are very polite, dare I say slightly "over" polite! I agree that it's sometimes difficult to understand some of the accents, but the staff are intelligent and generally get the problem sorted out. Infact I would also say that they tend to be more understanding and patient with computer illiterates like myself than the staff in the Ireland call centre. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0
