You'll have 768, leave the existing stick in.
AVG is good and it's free http://free.grisoft.com/doc/10 -
Vjain: Re the router. If you want wireless you may as well buy a router with built in wireless. Buffalo are good or 3com. There is 3com at dabs at the moment where you also get a pcmcia and a usb wifi card as well.Good deal.Starting MB- looking for Raf offers.

Thanks! :T Just AOL are so 'fussy' I wanted to make sure it would work and buy the same as another AOL 'basic' user. If that makes any sense?0 -

Thanks! As I just said above, AOL are so 'fussy' I wanted to make sure it would work and buy the same as another AOL 'basic' user. Also, these Dell laptops (which I have just purchased on the original deal) include a wifi card so I dont need 1 of them0 -
Hey guys
Thanks for the help so far. I bought my Dell 1300 on sunday and two days later it was on my doorstep. Funny cos since then I've had 2 calls from Dell and an email saying that they need to speak to me or else they can't go ahead with the sale - when I've already got the machine + my bank has been debited! I wonder if this is a sales thing, they've realised I bought the cheap stripped down version and want to pressure me into something more. So I've decided to ignore these calls - do you think this is wise?
Also as has been mentioned they've installed a lot of crap on this machine. All this AOL and tiscali and Wanadoo stuff. I've deleted the latter two but AOL has a whole raft of programs and I'm a bit scared to delete all of them - would this be ok? Also someone mentioned the MacAfee protection thing wasn't good, should I delete this too? Where would I get virus protection if I do this, being a good MSE I don't want to pay anymore obviously
Otherwise very pleased with my bargainous laptop, came straight out of the box easy to set up and start to use. Monitor seems a bit small/narrow though, and quite a bulky machine (compared to my old Compaq Armada). But still big improvement!
Thanks again!!
P.S one funny thing I noticed about their user guide, it's in English as you may expect EXCEPT for the returns policy which is in swedish, hm...bad hair day...0 -

I would personally format the hard drive and reinstall xp again. If you dont want to do that then best to uninstall all the unnessary programns inc aol via add/remove programs. However there is a good chance some uninstall programs may not delete all of the junk software, in which case you wil have to seek help from tech forums. As for a free antivirus software use avg, personally i got nod32 which i hardly notice is running.0 -
A huge vote for nod32 from me too.
I must say I'm not impressed by the way dell are making a new deal every day. I read the Independent & there seems to be a different inspiron offer whenever I look.desrever sthgir lla0 -
Is there one to match?0
