Just been to dell website and the basic model with no wifi or dvd writer comes out at £299 with the correct ecode- I'm not that bothered about the lack of a writer as I have one on my pc but am concerned about the wifi. I'm no way paying for the upgrade from dell as that makes this not a cheap laptop but from what I can see in the specs this laptop doesn't seem to have a pcmcia slot? Am I right about this? It has some other type of slot which I'm not familar with. If this is so its a shame cos I have a pcmcia wifi card already.
Also my wife can get dells through her compamys employee purchase scheme but get this - the machine that lots of you on the board got for £299 -(with wifi and dvd writer) comes out at £353 with a 14.1 " screen or £373 with a 15" screen under this scheme!!!!! OK it has 512mb but won't let you downgrade it to 256. Its part of the offer that you supposedly get double memory for free!! Work that out!!??!Starting MB- looking for Raf offers.

IMHO you have to look at the deal as it is today, not compare to what they have offered before or what might come in future. £335 for a laptop is still pretty good value in my book! The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

The ones that have built in wifi have a mini pci wifi card, I've seen these on ebay for £13.99 , so you might be able to do a cheap upgrade. You will need to connect to the built in antenna, many notebooks that don't have the wifi card still have the built in antenna's, but I'm not 100% sure about the 1300. The card fits under the same panel as the memory, so maybe someone who has bought one without wifi, & is upgrading the memory could check to see if the antenna cable is there when they upgrade. The antenna's can also be bought on ebay if it doesn't have one.
The card I've seen on ebay is a dell 1350, where the one that comes in the laptop is a 1370, so this one is just a slightly older revision.Next year we'll be millionaires!0 -

You can get the option of the minimum spec version with CDWriter, No Wireless card and 256 Ram for £299
Hi, am I being thick or how do you use this code? I hate call centres and want to order this online, somebody enlighten me?
I've tried putting it into their promotion code box just before it asks for payment and my card details but still comes up as £379bad hair day...0 -
Sorry for that query, figured it out now.
But another question, did anyone notice if you do a search for inspiron 1300 it comes up with several results. using the ecode on one of them you can get an inspiron 1300 for £282? but click on the next result down and it's £299. Spec looked exactly the same and they were both Inspiron 1300 so what's the difference?
it's only £17 but I'd like to know where it's going

Select Shop by E-Value code from the Dell home page.
It's at the top of the page.
Then just type 1 in the first box, then N03135a
That will display
(N03135a) Inspiron 1300
£393
Includes VAT & Shipping
Then just select the 90 day warranty option and update price, brings it down to £299. then add to basket and checkout0 -
I wonder if it will come back down to £299?0

It already is £299, but no Wi-Fi or DVD-RW
The offers change all the time, but don't think you will see the original offer again as it was selling at a loss.0
