actually in their terms and conditions on their website it does specifically say there is a £50 non refundable admin fee and also a £50 cancellation fee after 14 days0 -
i was wondering if 1st central lets you drive other insured cars as standard as i am going to need to transfer some of my granddads cars from 1 end of the country to the other end lol.
Most companies dont do it automatically as standard, usually got to be over 25 and held licence for a few years and not have an occupation in the motor trade etc then they willi have also read online that some insurance companies REFUSE to give you proof of no claims when you leave them, is this the same with this insurance company or not??
Insurance companies are under no obligation to give you this, however most insurance companies will accept your renewal documents as proof of no claims, i dont know about first centralI wouldn't mind but the address I am moving to is a nice quiet and peaceful area with hardly any crime, has a private driveway and garage yet parking in a garage INCREASED my quote, parking on the street was cheaper option, (np198bj) and a police officer lives about 6 doors away lol? The area I am in now is well known for car theft and criminal damage as well as anti social behavior and drugs. Makes no sense
A nicer or lower crime street doesnt necessarily mean cheaper insurance, consider this, Street A has 20 cars stolen in period of a 2 years, average car value £2000, Street B has 1 car stolen in 2 years, and was a £60k jag, Street A average claims for year is £20000 where as Street B is £30000, soley considering that fact which street is going to have the more expensive insurance premiums0 -
Hi All,
Please help!
We insured through 1st central as they were by far the cheapest and their sales man was helpful and informative. So when my partner wrote of the car last month we of course went to our insurance! They were quick in getting a recovery agent out and after a few phone calls hassling them we got our courtesy car...now it's all started to go wrong!
We were told the settlement amount would be sent out to us after I sent them back the paperwork and spare keys, so I did...today I received a phone call informing us that we owe them £464!!! That they would not be sending us the settlement amount, that it was being used to settle 'the outstanding debt' of £789! I have never heard of anything like this! And was utterly distraught when they informed me! Apparently its in my policy wording that if the car is a write off you are liable for the full policy amount...surely this can not be right?! That's not how insurance policies work! Having looked through all of our policy details it would appear the direct debit agreement that I agreed to had actually sneakily been turned into a flexible loan agreement!! How can they do this?! Anybody have any idea where I stand with this?!
Please help!!0 -
They are correct.
If you make a claim the full year's premium is due. In your case you made a claim for a write off, meaning they deduct the outstanding premium from the settlement, and any still outstanding becomes immediately due.
Premiums paid by instalment are loans for the annual premium being paid off!0 -
Has anyone here had issues re-newing their policy with this company? I got a renewal quote which i wanted to go a head with, however due to issues on their system it went up by almost £200 to what i was quoted on my letter. Been 4 days now with multiple phone calls, each time with an agent saying its with head office and someone would call back, but still nothing. My insurance has now expired but they don't seem to be rushing to sort this out.0

My wife is insured with 1st central. She had an accident yesterday. She phoned them and was told that her policy had been cancelled due to an error with the DD. She was told that the policy runs out on the day she had they accident and that she would still be covered. She was then put through to the claims dept, who also said that the policy ran out on the day of the accident, my wife asked what time it actually runs out as the accident was in the morning. The women on the phone then back tracked and said it ran out on the Friday before. She said that we was sent a letter saying we needed to set up the DD again to continue the policy. We never received a letter from them. At the scene of the accident the police ran the usual checks and everything came back that she was insured. Surely if they had cancelled the policy 6 days before the accident it would have come back as uninsured??. Why would they also give 2 different dates for when they policy was cancelled?. They didn't ask for the payment which was meant to be outstanding (which there isn't), they didn't ask for the insurance certificate to be sent back which I thought is normal procedure!!. Can anyone shed any light on this as we currently don't know if my wife was covered or not. Frustrating is an understatment!!😡0

Ask them to resend copies of all the missing documents. Then take it from there.
If you are unhappy about any aspect of this cancellation then complain via their complaints procedure which will be set out in the policy docs, and escalate to the FOS if you are unhappy wiuth the reply.
(The police check isn't foolproof - the database can take days to be updated)
Your objective should be to get the policy reinstated and the cancellation removed from your record otherwise you will have this on your record for life and have to disclose it to future insurers you try to get quotes from.0 -
i had an accident on the 30/08/2014 i was on a single lane road from edgware road to Maida vale very slow traffic just before i get to the junction of cuthbert street which is a marked zigzag area for pedestrian crossing i signaled , checked my mirror to turn left into cuthbert street when a motorbike hit me on the passenger side at a very hide speed as he was trying to undertake the whole traffic in a zigzag area causing damage to my passenger door side mirror and scratches to front left wing and there were more than half a dozen witnesses on the spot pointing out his fault immediately because anyone seeing that accident knew straight away who's fault was it, but now its been almost five days and my insurance which is 1st central has not done anything to help me with repairing my car or providing courtesy car they've been very slow which really upsets me. first they've asked me to deal with the motorbike insurance myself then i was asked to take my car to their approved repair garage outside of london and get an estimate from their engineers and maybe just maybe they will provide me with courtesy car if they decided to repair my car as if they are doing me a favour, i'm paying a £1100 to insure a BMW 2005 325. but still to the time i'm writing this email i haven't heard from them. they are trying to tell me all this nonsense policy just to avoid providing a good service and maybe save some money. i'm really frustrated and upset at the treatment i get from 1st central really really not professional.0

Although you are entitled to make a claim off your own policy, why not take their advice and contact the third party insurer.
If they agree they are liable and will agree to deal with you then you will have no problem over using a local garage of your choice, no excess to pay, replacement car provided whilst yours is made roadworthy and whilst it is repaired, no temporary loss of NCD until the issue is resolved.0 -
problem is there is no way i can get in touch with third party insurance company it's called Ebike and it's impossible to get in touch with them, i tried everything they have a phone number which costs £1.20 per minute which they never ever answer and email never been replied to . i went to see the person whom i had the accident with at the address stated on his driving license but it was a wrong address, until this update my insurance hasn't done anything for me that's why i'm thinking of getting a solicitor ASAP and sue them because they have a duty of care towards their customers and in this case they completely ignored. after all that's why i have insurance and paying all that money.0
