Jvic, you can have a test at the Drs if you're worried, I'm pretty sure it's just a swab so should be fine whilst pregnant...

Yes it is just a swab and can be treated whilst pregnant anyway. Just another thing to sort out though isn't it. I'm not really concerned but I don't think it's worth the risk when it can be sorted.

Krystaltips - I will probably only buy one pack of them anyway, to use for the first couple weeks. I have the washable ones that I use after that.

Is there a place on here that we have all the info on the sure start grant, the £190 health thingy (ah, the technical terminology) grant, and such?? Sort of a "when and how to apply" thing? Or where specifically we can find this ?

Ok, I'm prob gonna gross everyone out a bit now but wondered if this has come up with anyone else. I've read that Chlamydia can affect a baby when he/she is born and am worried that I may be carrying it without knowing (past partners, definately not worried about my current boyfriend) I have no symptoms (but not everyone does) and have been with him for 18 months. Has anyone else had concerns like this. It seems strange to me that women aren't screened for it routinly when pregnant.
If you are that worried, go get checked out.
I did when I was pregnant with DS because some tart told me she'd been sleeping with his Dad, so I made him got too, I had Chlamydia and Ghonnorea from him, not a nice thing to deal with when your 19 weeks pregnant but I'm glad I went.

The £190 you have to get the form off your midwife when you are 25 weeks pregnant.Everyone is entitled to it. Info here...
The surestart grant you can apply for after 29 weeks and you need to be on a qualifying benefit, Income Support, Income based Jobseeker's Allowance, Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit at a higher rate than family element or Working Tax Credit where a disability or severe disability element is included in the award... More info here...

I believe you can apply for the HipG from 25 weeks onwards and your midwife will give you a form. Mine didn't need promting but from what I gather, others do.

Krystaltips - thanks for that - I'll bookmark those pages and read through them.

I'm in the "wiggly puppy" stage now. If I lean forward, it squishes the bump, and I get kicks and wriggles like I'm laying on a puppy. Ever so odd feeling!

That's terrible. I've just googled it and there's a walk in GUM Clinic so am gonna go along for some tests. Just to put my mind at rest. Silly really but don't see the point risking Babys health just cos it's too much of a bother.

Jvic - definitely worth a little bit of hassle for peace of mind. I went to my GUM clinic and got checked out for everything possible a few years back. Its a relief to know that there is nothing wrong with you, especially as STDs like Chlamydia have no side affects.

AM - that is crap! (very eloquent I know!:))
