Hi, wife is in week 5, and we haven't a clue whats going to happen.

has anyone got a sort of checklist/calendar of pregnancy?
ie: what you should do? and when?
    week x - 1st scan
week x - apply for xx
    week x - 2nd scan

Also, can my wife get free prescriptions now? Does she need to prove she is pregnant?

Finally, at what point should you let people know you are pregnant?
like parents? friends? work? i'm bursting to start telling people.

i'm excited & scared at the same time!!

shoudl i like buy a book about pregnancy? or just be more relaxed about it all, and go with the flow?

I got my husband a book called The Bloke's Guide to Pregnancy by I think it was Jon Henley, and I read it too and thought it was good.

actually scrap that, my OH bought me a Rough Guides book called pregnancy and birth by kaz cooke, its factual but funny cos its got her week by week diary in it too and we read it LOTS, would recommend it to anyone!

I got that book and early on I thought it was quite good although I hated the diary bits which I didn;t think were funny, and now i'm further on I don;t think it's very good at all. It's OK for a laugh at the start but the info in it isn;t that great and it's very random which week it puts it in.

Hi funky_snow, not sure how much you were looking to spend but what about a doppler to let her hear little ones heartbeat inbetween scans and appointments, or maybe something to pamper herself like a voucher for pregnancy massage, i'd kill for one of those right now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both of these are great ideas! I have a doppler I've used loads, and OH is buying me a preggie lady health special from the local salon for later on as it looks fab.
Evening ladies. Midwife appointment went well and everything is fine. Apparently policy here is stretch and sweep at term + 7 days then again at term + 9 days and if all else fails induction at term + 12 days. I have decided to opt out of the stretch and sweep all together so have an antenatal appointment on 17th April to arrange induction for 20th April. It hopefully will not get to that though.

Just so you know - they cannot make you be induced or have a sweep at any point - it's totally up to you. So if you don;t want it, just decline :)

    Nikabella - I'm so sorry :A

I have nothing to report today. Baby is quite quiet butprobably just growing at the moment. I went to Space NK to get another tube of the stretch mark cream my friend got me from there for my birthday but it was £23  I think I'll get some Bio oil instead.

Eurgh! Smilie faces and fish fingers are not kids food!!! Party food, treat food, but no staple diet!

Some folk just aint got a clue. My friends SIL feeds her brood junk, like jelly for breakfast and chocolate mouse for dinner (the cheap asda price ones). And friend and her OH ALWAYS come home ill after vistiting!

MM, I have a wriggler tonight too! Only started after tea.. had pasta in tomato sauce with sausage, onion, mushroom and soy sauce and garlic bread - baby rocket fuel?! The garlic bread was very yummy - harvester baguette, two for £1 from Morrisons :)

Personally loving the description by Polly Hudson "Michael Jackson + Claudia Winkleman = Jodie’s new look"
