I will see what ICO says, then i may just work out when i got the card, when i got rid of it, and photocopy all references to it Lloyds have provided to me in credit checks and loan aplications and say i had sentinel card insurance that i was mis sold and see what they say.:o
I believe that "sentinel" card insurance is insurance on the card (eg in case it gets lost or stolen) and is not PPI (which protects your repayments)0 -
I received a letter through from Lloyds saying i"t was taking longer than expected to deal with my compaint" and that "i will do my best to provide you with a final decision within the next weeks", by my reckoning thats the 21st August, the letter also says if they cant reach a decision they will provide me with a letter to give to the financial ombudsman.
Is this standard?
Do they always get back within the 4 weeks?
If they dont what should i do?
And if they refuse my claim, should i cancel the insurance on the current loan i have with them, and if so how does it work as the insurance was pre paid in with the loan in one lump sum?
Friday is when the "4 weeks" are up, so we shall see what happens.
would it be worth calling the number on the letter they gave me "if i had any quieries"?
:T
Thanks to everyone for all the help over this.0 -

Hi there,
My experience with Lloyds is that they do tend to deal with these matters last minute.
If the PPI is worthless to you, then you can ask them to cancel now if you want to, but the monthly repayments may not reduce by much as it's after the cooling period, and the way Lloyds tend to deal with cancellations, is by suggesting to pay that off with a new loan without taking on the PPI, if they do this and you want to do this, make sure the APR is that equal to the existing rate or better.
As you aware aware they have 8 weeks, you can wait until the date they have provided if you want to, but your entitled to move on to the FOS if they do not deal with your complaint by then.
Fingers crossed for you and hope they resolve this in your favour, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
OK, got a letter throuh this morning (the last day of 8 weeks would you beleive:rolleyes:) saying that they havent made a decision yet, and that they have not made a decision yet, and that they hope to reach a decision soon, and if im not happy with that, i can use the leaflet enclosed to take my case to the financial ombudsman.
I know that really its my choice, but how long can/should i wait before going to the ombudsman?, should i give them a few more weeks, badger them every day on the phone?, or should i just got to the ombudsman right away.
Thanks again:T0 -

Hi there, glad you finally received it.....;)
As you know now its your choice, so maybe give them your own timescale, for example if you hear nothing by another 14 days then move on to the FOS, or you can still prepare one ready just in case if you want to.
By either ringing them, or downloading and printing the complaints form from their website here:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
When and if you do go this direction now, remember to enclose copies of correspondence with the complaints form, however there is no harm in continuing to go to the FOS now, and if you do hear with some good news in your favour, all you have to do is cancel this with the FOS, this way your not wasting any time.;)
Hope this helps, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Right!!!, finnally got a response.
I wont bore you with the details, but basically they are saying i digned loads of forms that pointed out i knew what i was aggreeing to, and that their records stated i was full time permanently employed at the time the loan was taken out. (I have copes of my credit check file which say im seasonal which i assume they also have copies of).
Of the 2 loans they are offering...
"£160" for a "Better rate" for the early settlement of the loan i settled a few years back.
and
"£580" for the cancelation of my existing loan insurance back dated to my original complaint date.
So thats £740 offered, while the original LPI's including interest was/is "£3270".
and the letter's stated that accepting the offer means i accept that i am happy that the complaint has been dealt with to my satisfaction.
It does say this is our fina decicion, so i guess now its the ombudsman:rolleyes:
So now i should be photocopying all relevent contracts and paperwork to do with this?
and should i hightlight words and paragraphs ect i think are relevent to the case to bring it to the ombudsmens attention?
thanks again.0 -

Hi there
Thanks for your update, and hope your well.;)
Yes photocopy anything you have to enclose with the FOS form and of course its best to highlight your points to them as well, and of course as you know also enclose the final copy of the correspondence.
You can download and print from the FOS site, or ring them to arrange they post this out to you.

Good luck, please keep us posted. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Just a quick update to say i have now sent off all correspondants off to the Ombudman, and received a letter from them saying they received it but are busy, and will get back to me as soon as possible.
Anyone, any idea what kind of timescale do you think im looking at?
Thans again.:j0
