Unfortunately if shes irresponsible enough to drink and drive then I wouldn't imagine a little thing like a driving ban will stop her going out in her car. Some people just think the laws do not apply to them x

Good news about her going to court, hopefully that might give her a shock and bring her to her sense.
If it doesn't, it means the next time she's caught the options open to the courts are much more varied and potentially a lot harsher.
  • Hopefully it will make her stop and think.

I reported a neighbour a few years ago as she was doing the exact same thing, but to nursery, not school. Nothing was done and she died two years ago from alcoholic cirrosis, leaving behind her 4 year old son.

I wish I had reported until something was done - then she may have had a wake up call and her son might not be motherless.

Indeed, I beleive technically they can do a breath test the moment you get open the car door and if found over the limit charge you with being drunk in charge (I think is the term), which is a lower charge than driving and just basically requires you to be over the limit, whilst in the vehicle with the keys.

It's once the keys are in the ignition you can be charged. I returned to my car to pick up an item after visiting the pub and before moving onto a club. The police grabbed me as soon as I set foot in my car. I quite honestly told them I was over the limit but I had no intention of driving and I was just picking up something. They let me off but said if my keys had actually been in they'd have charged me.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I would also phone the police and report her. Think how you'd feel if she had an accident and you could have prevented it.

Well, the court case has been and gone and guess what? the case was dismissed!! How on earth that happened I have no idea.....so she's free to carry on driving despite what she's done! Where is the justice in that!!

Possibly some procedural mistake by either the Police or CPS rendered the case against her invalid???
