I have stumbled across this a bit late, I spend my time in the housing section. I have one of these policies running since 2001 a 15 yr one. I have paid in roughly 4k with my half of 1st year payments back. Should I get a surrender value and grab and run. I spoke to someone at Axa a few months back and was told they were doing well, which is clearly not the case. Will I be lucky if I get my money back I paid in. Not read the whole thread but I get the gist of wahat is being said. Hope some old posters will pick this up. Thanks in advance.

well here i am another person to be stung by sun life. i took out cash builder with profit funds in 1997, i was told i could nt cash it in for 10 years then if i wished after the 10 years i could cash it in but i would lose the bonuses and some of the money i had paid in.well i ve just phoned up to try and cash it in but have been told i ve got to let it go for the full 15 years as at the moment the surrender value is £000. feeling totally frustrated and really ripped off !

I managed to get a surrender value, 1k short mind you of what I paid in, mine has been running since 2001. I then had to write to the complaints dept in Bristol which I did yesterday. Hoping to get a refund if lucky ???

not a cash builder axa (sunlife) plan
but sunlife lifeline plan with profits sold via Barclay bank services
taken out in june 1993 now at end of term and paying out 51% of payments made so much for 6% profit

this was not a great monthly outlay for both me and my wife over the year but just a thought any way of getting payment made as bank info states profit over total payments made?

    any help please

I took out a policy with sunlife which offered 15000 life cover and I was led to beleive i'd have a good return at the end of 15 years
i've just received notice which does not match up is it too late to claim back all my dividends plus interesticon9.gif

I took out a sunlife policy in 1993 and i think i was promised, or led to think i would receive, a much higher return.
each year i received a bonus report but i cant find the actual policy and i usually keep everything safe.
if there is any information which could help i would appreciate it.icon9.gif
and if i can help pass on that information i will.
I can see through various websites there are a lot of disappointed people
    who feel let down.
when sun life and axa joined up they kept trying to get me to switch to the newer version "cashbuilder plus" I chose to stick with what I had because the
life insurance was better, I don't know iif it would have paid out were I to actually die.
I won't ever use this company for insurances or any other product again.

i recieved a letter from the complaints department today and surprise surprise i m not getting any money back!apparently the plan i took out is more of a life insurance than a savings plan.it will only just start earning me money now after 10 years and the earliest i can cash it in is july 2009.thats 11 years of paying in £6 pm-total £792 and all i will recieve back if i cash in next year is £137

I also took out my Sunlife policy in July 1993 and was led to believe that I would receive a much higher return. However I have just received my maturity documents through and the maturity amount is only £1900 (this includes my bonuses and terminal bonus) when I have paid in £2700, really not happy. Wrote to them and received the reply 4 weeks later stating that the amount was correct and that the markets have not performed well in the last 15 years therefore the amount paid is less, also as this was a with death benefits that is why the maturity payout is so low. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of taking out a policy with AXA dont bother and if you already have see what you can get back out of them
