Heres the Scottish one from Jokaty82 - http://www.webuyoldgold.co.uk/index.html

Think , I will give this a go. Does anyone think they will except if I offered to deliver it? as I dont trust the post.

    xx

They have a shop @ 35 Reform Street Scumdee, just pop in and they will buy there and then. I suggest you take proof of ID and phone first to make sure jeweller is available :A

I would have thought there were jewellers who buy second hand in Edinburgh?

Not spam look at my other posts

    Another site here
    http://www.scrapgolduk.co.uk/gold

Gold price today is US$870 per troy ounce which is 31.1grams so on the prices above you get US$733 per troy ounce for 24ct scrap if my maths is right, which looks pretty good.
Has anyone used this site before.. are they reliable?

  • I sent off some jewellery (bracelets, rings and some broken gold) to webuyoldgold.co.uk and was offered £120, which was a good offer.

However, I decided to try one of the companies advertising on the TV – so asked them to return my jewellery.

I then sent off my jewellery to Money4Golduk.com – I just received a cheque for £25!!

Have tried calling them but there is an automated service and can’t leave a message as voicemail is full.

Have sent back my cheque (per their terms) and am keeping my fingers crossed i get my stuff back.

Should have just stuck with webuyoldgold.co.uk (as recommended on here)

Please be wary of these companies advertising to buy your gold on TV!!!!

There was an item about selling gold on You and Yours, Radio 4, this Saturday just gone. Could be worth a Listen Again, sorry but no time to find the link and I don't know what it said because I only half caught it!

  • Here's the link to the bit of the Moneybox programme dealing with selling gold. Like Savvy Sue I was not really listening but I don't think the ones that advertise on TV came out too well.

    Rule No.1.
Never send your old gold anywhere until you know what they are paying per gramme.
    Rule No.2.
Only send your old gold to whoever is paying top dollar.
    Rule No.3.
Unless you are desperate for the cash, hang on to your old gold.
    Rule No.4.
Read this thread from the start before doing anything.

  • Hi,

I recommended WeBuyOldGold because I found them genuine and quick to deal with. Don't worry about posting. They pay for you to send your goods off special delivery so its all insured. I recommended a friend and she just got £170 from them.

The thing that put me off TV companies is that they were saying that the price of silver is at a all time high. This isn't true, I have read and been told that silver is at a very big low, however some companies like the above will take it to bulk out what they offer you.

Did your cheque get cancelled and you get your jewellery back?

WeBuyOldGold also have a shop, but be careful about just going in any shop. Like I said I was only offered originally £30 for my stuff.

Here's another link to The Guardian Money section article last Saturday laying out the pros and cons http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2009/sep/12/gold-selling
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

EXACTLY the same has happened to me with Money4Golduk.com...I can't get through on the phone and my emails are ignored. I don't know where to turn - it was hard enough making the decision to sell my gold, but I did it because I'm desperate..so obviously I can't afford to lose this money. On top of this, there seems to be a TV AD every 5 minutes for this rip-off site, and I'm getting more depressed every time I see it. Have you heard anything from them yet?
  • I recently spoke to some people that have a shop in Barnsley they buy and sell gold, these are people I trust regarding all the adverts on TV regarding buying your old gold, he told me that people are being ripped off.
