Selling our old gold

Options
Hi everyone, apparently scrap gold is a good price and I have several wedding rings etc, from family, sitting in a drawer, in our local shopping mall they were sitting there today giving out lots of cash for necklaces, bangles, etc, I asked how much a gram it was, about eleven to twelve pounds she said for wedding rings, looking on the net just now it seems it goes in carat, but this price is quite low, does anyone know of a safe way to sell old gold on the net, you could send it off and never see it again, nor the money!!

Has anybody tried this, thank you, had not thought of it before, but someone had given them a couple of very small necklaces and a little bangle and he paid out over eighty pounds!!

Worth a thought methinks!!

Regards oap

    I've noticed a stall in our shopping centre run by Guardian Jewellry Co doing a rip-roaring trade in buying old gold (rings etc)

    My daughter took all her old gold to a shop near us last week and she nearly fell through the floor when they offered her £670 for it. She never expected anything near that amount. Needles to say she took the money then went shopping for her coming holiday.

    Not spam look at my other posts

    Just got these scrap gold prices off the internet.
    9 Carat £6.32 per gram
    10 Carat £6.32 per gram
    14 Carat £9.83 per gram
    18 Carat £12.64 per gram
    22 Carat £15.45 per gram
    24 Carat £16.85 per gram

    http://www.scrap-gold-buyers.co.uk/212/Scrap_Gold_Prices.html

    This why the different prices
    9 ct = 37.5% Gold
    10ct = 41.7% Gold
    14ct = 58.5% Gold
    15ct = 62.5% Gold
    18ct = 75% Gold
    20ct= 83.3% Gold
    22ct= 91.6% Gold
    24ct= 99.99% Gold
    So if it is hallmarked make sure you get the right sort of price.

    Another site here
    http://www.scrapgolduk.co.uk/gold

    Gold price today is US$870 per troy ounce which is 31.1grams so on the prices above you get US$733 per troy ounce for 24ct scrap if my maths is right, which looks pretty good.

    Thank you all very much indeed, most our ours is old signet rings and wedding rings, from family who have passed on, never felt could sell it really, but what is the point of leaving it in a drawer, also got two or three gold watches, so I do not know how they weigh the gold on those.

    Will seriously think about it now, the High Street is not offering as much as the net, but can we trust sending it off somewhere and getting the money, or never seeing it again, needs thinking about, but suppose it would help if as you say we went knowing today's price.

    Cheers, oap

    I sold my loose, broken and unused gold through hattongardenmetals.com

    It was straight forward and payment was instant. You send off your gold/metals by special delivery and they send an email on quote.

    I had scoured the internet and worried over which company to choose and they were by far the best.

    Hope this helps!
    Life is a rollercoaster.....ya just gotta ride it:whistle:

    OAP,
    I think Danlojo has found a better price site.
    I've followed them for a few days and they seem to top my link. Here is Danlojo's site.

  • Yes, good old Gordon Brown sold most of the nation's gold at $280 an oz.

    Not so prudent eh?

    try selling your gold watches separate and not for scrap, i'm sure they will be worth a lot more whole
    make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
    and we will never, ever return.
