Is paid Debt Management REALLY so bad?

    Exactly.

A fair number of posters and lurkers here really do want to end it all - literally - because of their debt.

Long time posters are VERY protective of our members and we refuse to accept, and will fight back, against those posts that are deemed SPAM or inappropriate. We are inundated with trolls at times and spammers who have realised that those who are in a very, very low place are the easiest ones to manipulate, con and push over the edge.

You cannot blame anyone here for thinking that your first post is a pre-requisite for spam. Its not like we haven't seen it all before.

Well you should re-read what you just said. Guilty before proven inocent?

It's not just about the first post. The denial after it wasn't even referred to.

And yes, I can blame the idiots that think it is fun to insult people that are stressed. I've pm'ed the members concerned and I've reported the posts.

What is the point of a forum like this is long-term members think it is fun to insult?

benefit of the doubt given to you in this case from me

However, those of us who have been around would all recommend never using a fee paying company for all the reasons above - sorry but no recommendation from me here.

For people who are absolutely committed to getting rid of their debt, and for changing lifestyle so it doesnt happen again, this place is an absolute god send and the advice contained within it is the best you can get in the country. If those with the most posts are advising against fee payers, its because they know best. Who you want to take advice from......someone who has no experience or someone who does.

I can understand the broker comment which is why there are still fee paying companies out there but I just cannot see their use when you can pay your debt quicker without. My priority is not my time but my debt and paying it of as quickly as I possibly can so I can get my life back.

  • Well, I'm stunned.

All I did was post a controversial question. And all I get is abuse?

Can't you guys understand that people that come here may be very stressed, already fed-up, in need of friendly support?

Looks like my efforts to find about about my initial question is wasted.

But I am going to pursue the abuse here. It is ridiculous that people can not come and be treated fairly.

I tried to pm all three of the original posters, but have to wait 240 seconds each post.

    Thanks for being so unwelcoming.

There is nothing wrong with paid for DMP for the reason of speed etc. as the free ones are overwhelmed at the moment. As long as you do your homework and understand that not all your money will go to your creditors!!

The free ones get some money from the credit industry to survive.

Generally speaking a fee charging firm will have more resources to employ staff to harass creditors into freezing interest on your behalf, the sooner the interest is stopped on the account the quicker the debt will come down. Some say this is what you pay a firm to do. Due to the current debt crisis in the UK the fee charging firms have seen a massive increase in demand for their services because the non fee charging firms, of which there are only two, are extremely busy and can take longer to set up these plans. Debtors need action sooner rather than later and many accept that they have to pay for such a service.(debtwizard.com quotes)

there are not just two - they are just the main ones!

You can also go to CAB or CAP etc.....

Opps, I thanked you in error :rotfl:

Anyway, if we can help in anyway with your debts, like a CCA request ;) let us know:rotfl:
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

First of all, thank you for not insulting me and replying in a decent way.

I can see the point of having no fees, and I only started looking into all this about 3 days ago. I had a long wait getting through to CCCS, and have a 20 page Word document to complete for Payplan. I'm not saying that is wrong, just that I have to remember to try and earn a living as well. My initial thinking was just, where does the time become too much (assuming a paid company saved some time).

Still, what all the spam-accusers don't know is that I've almost completed my Payplan document, and that is the likely course of action for me. I just wanted to check that there wasn't an alternative. Like I said, I sometimes think too much emphasis is put on things being free. Maybe not in this case.

    Well, I'm stunned.

All I did was post a controversial question. And all I get is abuse? So you knew it was controversial but didn't think you may get a spot of flack about it?

Can't you guys understand that people that come here may be very stressed, already fed-up, in need of friendly support? Duh.... Thats why the board is here in the first place. As already stated we are very protective of our posters.

Looks like my efforts to find about about my initial question is wasted.

But I am going to pursue the abuse here. It is ridiculous that people can not come and be treated fairly. You haven't been abused. Far from it. If you want abuse, try The Arms or The Discussion boards for real flogging abuse.

I tried to pm all three of the original posters, but have to wait 240 seconds each post. Thats a "security" feature on the site. Sorry about that but its for all posters. Its due to some spammers who once upon a time sent PMs to almost everyone in a few seconds.

Thanks for being so unwelcoming Sorry you feel that way.

Although I think that I am arguing about something a bit different to you.

The big issue is that with the first two payments generally going to the fee-charging company and 17.5% of your payments thereafter, you need to be paying a fair bit of interest and get that stopped to negate the charges.

We have seen some terrible cases on here - people on benefits paying £100 per month for 10 years and going nowhere. Much better off BR, in that case. She and her children would have had a much better life.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
