If you're a looking for brand name tyres, Michelin ect. then you can definately save some money at costco. However they don't do any budget brands, so if you're looking for those, you should shop around.

Is it worth me joining for to get some tyres?

I found blackcircles.com cheaper and we have a membership, there is also a 5% off code on the voucher forum as well. service was just as good as costco and you can have a fitter come to your home to fit.

Not unless you specifically want MICHELIN tyres because that's the ONLY brand that Costco sell.

Having said that I'd still NOT BOTHER.

Costco have FIXED prices and cannot knock off a couple of quid or provide new valves or do the balancing for FREE to compete with local tyre providers.

There's more than a dozen tyre depots around here that will beat Costco's price every time for exactly the same Michelin tyres.
Just usually get Costco's price before going to them - tell them how much (if they quote more) and they knock off more than the difference to make it cheaper :)

Even achieved when Costco has the rare tyre offer running - eg Buy 2 save 10%, buy 3 save 15% or buy 4 save 20%

MAKRO has to come 1st since membership is FREE

ANYTHING you ever buy there that is cheaper than anywhere else justifies joining.

The only thing you are going to lose is any time spent visiting the store assuming you leave without making a purchase.

COSTCO will cost you £25 per year
You may well save this amount and justify joining.

If you are willing to cough up the £25 then you might as well JOIN BOTH :)

Something to add for the original poster: anything (be it meat, clothes, vegetables, canned goods) I have purchased at Costco has been far superior to anything I purchased at Makro and lasted a lot longer.

Now I have experience of both I'd choose Costco everytime even if it did cost £25 to join!

Me too, I wouldn't be without my Costco card anymore - hardly ever go to Macro

  • Have to agree with other and only goto Makro when they do a good deal on Washing powder, kitchen roll or loo roll.
They use to do bags of Grampian Chicken either strips , chunks or fillets 2 for £11 these shot upto £9 each so i stopped buying them and get 3 for £10 from farmfoods.

Corned Beef, fruit and Veg are good value and last ages.
cakes are fantastic they do a huge chocolate cake and trays of danish pastries are fab.

Last time i went to Makro to check the prices on tyres they wanted £110 each plus the extra's, Quickfit wanted half the price.

Wow! Where was this - in the freezer, fresh - ?

    How big are they?

That seems like a bargain (depending on size), and quite unusual!
