it doesn't seem it would be worth their while...what's to stop you returning the product and buying it again with a voucher?

This is not true they have scans of all the vouchers on the tills.

Secondly they cannot charge you more for something they are advertising for less.

I try to use the same couple of individuals on the tills and get to know them - that way you get very few problems

I would take their name and complain - I do know that they had problems on Monday (at Chingford) with the codes not registering automatically - a technical glitch.

Well, they did not have copies of the vouchers at the tills this week (they have in the past)...which is why I asked the question in the first place.

And I would have thought that an advertised price with a voucher could require you to have the voucher...they do say on the back 'only original coupons accepted' which implies that you have to have the voucher...they've always said this I think but it's never been enforced before.

I have nothing to complain about - I had the vouchers with me and handed the ones I was using over to the cashier.

Not sure what you mean about the codes not registering automatically - the cashier scanned the vouchers I gave him and the discounts were given...they've never come up automatically - the cashier used to scan the copies at the till.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

On Monday when the coupons went live, Costco in Chingford had a glitch on their systems and the coupons were not being recognised (it lasted for a few hours) - this affected till copies and customer copies of coupons.

They were entering some of the codes on the coupons manually - the scanner was not picking them up automatically.

The coupon books on the front door will run out before the month is up so they will have the coupons on the tills.

As another poster said - all you do is take the product back get a refund and buy it again - so whoever is telling you this on the tills is wasting everyones time.

I know the management there very well I will raise it with them next week when I go and let you know.

OK, thanks...but it appears from other posts on this page that it's not just Chingford - MK and Bristol have also been mentioned as requiring the vouchers.

Personally, it's always surprised me that you haven't had to have the coupon in the past...since normally a coupon special requires the customer to have the coupon.

Are they still giving out the voucher booklets on the door? My mum and dad are the primary card holder and have used all the ones they wanted and dumped the booklet :(

I got a book of vouchers on my way in today at Croydon despite having remembered by book that was ticked into my bag.

I've got a copy of the latest offers if anyone wants to know any in particular. There are too many to list and scanner not working, but let me know if you're interested in any of the following areas:

Cleaning products (Plenty 6x2 fat kitchen towel £5.74 inc VAT), drinks (soft/alcoholic), cereal bars/crisps and some household (denby tableware, foot or back massager, Lumix FS7EB camera, Karcher pressure washer, Hoover washer/dryer, Samsung 40" LCD and Blu Ray DVD, HP desktop and various other bits).

No fresh foods on offer - maybe next month?

Also, some people mentioned that you had to have the vouchers to get the discounts, but not the case in Reading branch. I checked with the woman on the till today and she said that you just had to tell them afterwards which offers you had and they would scan them from their book at the till. However, as there are so many offers this month, it might be worth having the vouchers ready or at least marking them in the booklet as it's easy to forget which offers you've bought if you have a lot of shopping (I always find the checkout so manic).
