  • They may ask you to upgrade to gold membership, if you do and dont spend enough to warrant the enhanced membership they give you the money back.

Oh I didn't know that! Last year we spent more than usual! The staff at Costco were able to work out that based on last years spend, if we upgraded we would get the cost of the upgrade back. So we decided against it!:o

We are a family of 6, would it be worth the membership and travel expense (approx £20) for us to join?

    TIA C

My sister has a business and the whole family has a side card from her account. We pay her our cost of membership (you have to pay the annual membership for every extra card).

Also at my old company the company had membership and employees could ask for membership via the company (another way of issuing side cards I think).

This is all for Costco. Not sure about Makro.

It does depend upon what you are buying. But even if you got the basics like salt, sugar, water, cheese and butter you should be saving some money - huw much depends upon how much you get at the time and IF YOU find anything they have on offer to be good value.

    fuit shoot 3x8 @ 4.78
    princes tropical juice 27x250ml @ 4.78
    princes tropical juice 12x1l @4.78
    whole milk 2x2l @ 4.69
    anchor butter 500g @ 2.39
    cheesee strings 24pk @ 5.69
    muller fruit / crunch 6pk @ 1.69
    chopped tomatoes 12x 400g @ 3.99
    pride veg oil 20l @ 18.25
    Potato wedges 2.5kg @ 3.35

Sorry these are the prices I remember as I noted them down for sis.

You do need to be careful as sometimes the supermarkets have better offers on, or maybe you could get something cheaper from a greengrocer.

Why not check out their coupon books on addictedtocostco and see if you may have bought some of those things and work out the cost you may have saved?

They have some with leather type outer rather than suede,I wear those for wet days or muddyier excursions
  • I think I need to revisit costco as we are members but only joined really as we save £100 a year on contact lense solutions compared to the cost of boots etc.. Need to start thinking about buying in bulk I think...
