Looking at some of the network charges for calling / receiving calls
whilst in southern ireland you would think i was calling Australia...
Never mind.....
Thanks
dear oh dear - what ever the hell you do, please do not let any gems like this slip out when you are over there!
For what it's worth, if you are on O2 their International add on which you can get on a month by month basis (sometimes for free if on over a certain amount per month) sometimes takes calls out of your normal usage when roaming and gives discounts at other times.0 -

Orange can provide bundles of minutes/texts at a lower rate than normal for a small monthly fee. I can't post a link as I'm a newbie here but can be found if you search for 'Favourite Countries' in Mobile Help & Support on the Orange webpage.
When I was in Dublin a couple of years ago, I was with Vodafone on a monthly contract and had the Vodafone Passport applied for free on my acount. It then cost me 75p per incoming/outgoing call and it didn't cost me any extra after that as my x-net minutes were used after that.In a world where everything is a copy, I remain an original0 -
OH MY GOD HE AKSKED A KWESCHUN THAT CONSIDERING OTHER THINGS (SUCH AS NOT NEEDING A PASSPORT TO GET INTO IRELAND AND SHARING A COMMON BORDER) WAS RELUTIVLY SENSIBLE AND WURTH AKSKING.

it's a valid question, get off his back.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
Am I right in thinking that the 3 network operate as if there was no border?
If I take a phone contract with 3 in ireland, I get coverage of the whole of the island (ROI and NI) as it doesn't seem to recognise a border. At least that's what I've been told and that's how their website seems to present it.0 -
do you reckon 3 was set up posthumously by john lennon?helpful tips

Awec you are correct, you can use your 3UK contract in a number of countries on thier respective 3 networks and not pay roaming charges.
Mainly.
Ireland
Austria
Italy
Hong Kong
Australia
DenmarkYou MUST remain on the 3 networks in these countries for it to be included though, if it drifts onto another network then you will pay

And it's not advisable to refer to it as 'Southern Ireland' either when you are there. 'Ireland' or' Eire' would be advisable. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Republic of Ireland/Southern Ireland works, as do the others mentioned, but it depends who you talk to. Then again, in ROI, I don't think too many people really care what happens in NI, and the majority of people in NI just want to get on with their lives, so are very unlikely to cut your head off if you get the name wrong!:DNorthern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

And for the record:- Ireland is the name of the country in English.
- Éire is the name of the country in Irish.
- Republic of Ireland is the description of the country.
