WHA wrote:Absolutely! May I also add that people who do well are also likely to be "likeable" people who other people are more likely to help. Personality counts for far more than people give credit for. If those around you really like you, they will do more for you. There are far too many arrogant and aggressive people in business - they may get short term results but there is no long term goodwill being built. The successful businesses that I see tend to be "nice" people who have learned to be assertive rather than aggressive or nasty.
I also think, along with the arrogance and aggressiveness, many people really do think they should get something for nothing! If you can get the deals on the grabbit board and freebies then they are great, I get them too.
But what most people (which I think is traditionally English) do is point out the negatives and downsides of things, and don't even contemplate the 'rewards for hard work' scheme of things.0 -

All the presenter (motivational speaker) does, is give the candidate postitive thoughts and regular pushing. The people on the show who have done bad just can't live that way, and no matter how much they are instructed, they just won't listen. The people that will do well are the ones that listen.
In my eyes it IS as simple as that. A great inspirational show for all.
Well said. It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who don't see themselves as a business oportunity.
Count up the number of hours spent watching TV a week by the average person and then think what they could do if they used that time to learn new skills.
They could earn more money in that time once the skills were learnt or get promotion at work or get an entirely new job.
Not to mention the amount of money that would be saved by ditching SKY.Debt in 1993: £35,000 | Debt in 2006: £0 | Assets in 2006: £2.3m and counting. :j
Anything is possible with hard work, determination and the love of a good woman.
There is no upper, middle or lower class. Simply those that have class and those that don't.0 -

True, very true.
We live in a country where people will spend their last pound on a lottery ticket but will laugh in your face if you suggest that they could become just as rich through hard work (in my experience of talks that I've done anyway).
The odds are much more in favour of hard work as well.Debt in 1993: £35,000 | Debt in 2006: £0 | Assets in 2006: £2.3m and counting. :j

Well it is a lot easier to say 'that cant be done by a normal person' than actually doing something! lol0 -
Many people have employers who expect them to donate any spare time to them for nothing as unpaid overtime, and will not tolerate "moonlighting".0

I totally agree about the last programme what a lovely family and good luck to them.
As you can see I have included comicmankev's quote as he is spot on.
Just to put you in the picture my name is Sean Casey-Poole and it was my wife Anne-Marie and I who appeared in the first programme of the series.
If you watched it you will know I am involved in entertainment.
How and why did I become involved in this type of work?
Well I was in yet another dead end job just plodding along and thought there is more to life than this.
So I thought long and hard about things and the same thing kept going through my mind, how people kept telling me I was a really funny guy and I should be on stage. So when the comedian walked off stage at our local club after being heckled once too often I plucked up the courage to get up on stage myself. I stormed it doing comedy and my impression of Donald Duck singing great balls of fire. From there the gigs started flying in, but I wasn't just happy with that I wanted another challenge and one night I was on the same bill as a hypnotist and he was earning 6 times what I was. So that was it, 2 years of burying my head in books to learn hypnotherapy properly.
I felt it was important to know exactly how the mind worked before I got out there. Well the rest is pretty much history Mickey Take comedy hypnotist was born. http://mickeytake.co.uk
Once again inspired by someone else I heard about Neuro Linguistic Programming NLP for short, and thought this would be an ideal tool to add to my knowledge of hypnotherapy and went for it. Paying £1600 for my practitioner course. I am now qualified and building up a good business aiding people to quit smoking with NLP. I am also doing quit smoking roadshows in Pubs/clubs distance no object, lol minimum 6 people and going into corporate workplaces doing the same. http://nlpsolutionsuk.com
Well the point of this thread is just to reiterate what comicmankev says, we all have hidden talents. I wasn't born a comedian, motivational speaker or therapist,If I hadn't tried these things I would still be plodding along changing jobs every 6 months.
I hope you tune in to the series next year to see how we have all done, and if we inspire people on the way the programme has been well worth us doing.
All the very best

True, I used to work in a Dixons store where the manager was exactly like that. Basically made us do overtime for free and in not so many words said we would be out of a job if we didnt. This was after 6 months out of work so I did it. A new manager came in and paid us for even 1 hour overtime. I then realised that I would not work for anybody that did not pay me for my time.
My time is the most precious thing on earth, as is yours. I don't care what 'many people' do for a living, but 'many people' should realise that they should not be working under these circumstances and find a better way forward.
Sometimes this means relocating, then so be it. If it means re-training, then so be it. If it means less money now with the prospect of more in the near future then so be it.
There is nobody on this earth that can mean, 'I work all hours that god sends and get paid nothing for it'. But don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people that say it.0 -
caseys - I missed your show, but would love to see it if you have an e-copy?
And great words, it is quite simple really, there's not many people on this earth, if any, that have - NO TALENT AT ALL. Even the man sleeping rough has a talent, and I'm sure he earns more than many down my street - lol.
If anyone wishes to take up an MSE challenge for hidden talent, then I may just welcomeanyone that wants to join me. I'm happy to do the Rene thing, and I'm sure theres lots out there that can also help. So come on,oh ye of little faith, bring it on - lol0 -
