I really enjoyed this programme last might - I echo what most others have said that it was so nice to see how unmaterialistic (is that a word?) they were, and I really hope they do it.
The only thing that bugged me was that i had never seen this programme b4, so I thought we were gonna find out at the end of the show if they had done it or not , i didn't realise that only 1 year had been filmed, oh burst out laughing wen they said at the end - next year we'll find out if they did it - i was like - what! I am a very impatient person!!

Excellent finale to the series, and the kids were just unbelievably good. The enthusiasm with which they could eat cat food, move to the shed etc was just amazing. The whole family appeared to work very well as a unit, and the love was clearly visible for all to see. They understood each other, with not a single negative criticism from wife about husband or vis versa. I would be surprised if they do not achieve what they have set out to do, any you know that they would still be together come what may. (No intention to tempt fate here)

They didn't really eat cat food - that was just their little joke!

They were brilliant - and ironically although on the face of it the least likely to succeed, they actually seemed to me to be the only ones I have seen who have any chance at all of paying off their mortgage in 2 years!

I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't got orders already for those hundred stoves after an hour's prime time TV advertising! I'd have one myself if I could afford it - they were wonderful. On the site he says they are limited edition to 350 in total - I suspect it won't take long to sell out....

    Good luck to them!

After complete drivel in the earlier episodes, I really enjoyed last night's episode. What lovely people. I really hope they manage it. Just goes to show that there are still "normal" people in the world who don't have to drink champagne every week nor pretend they're something they're not. It was so refreshing to see them just getting on with it. No tantrums, no tears, no indulging themselves when things get a bit hard. They were a real inspiration, especially the children who seemed delighted with the simple things in life. We need more people like that on the television instead of the usual cranks and crankpots that the producers pick for "reality" TV.

i couldn't agree more, and can only wish them all the best.

refreshing tv, prior to this, this prog had not inspired me at all.

What a fantastic family. Really liked the line on the web site about limited run of 350 hotpods. The accessories look good too. Totally agree that they will sell out ASAP. It was really enjoyable to see some prime time television revolving around genuine people.

I think if Daniel contacted the Eden Project guy again there would be strong oportunities there ... his ethos fits really well with the sustainability that the Eden Project champions.

I fell in love with the stoves, what a talented man,, but more importantly what a fantastic family, quietly very jealous of how much in love dan and his wife still were and how cool the boys thought their parents were.
fingers crossed that they make it and start towards their dream of living in a wood

I have to totally agree with everything said! I thought the family were amazing and made me thoroughly jealous of their attitude to life and family situation. I echo others when I say, when I have a partner/family it would be fabulous to have even a little of that wonderful attitude and respect for each other. When she (sorry, can't remember her name!) said something like "Dan can only thrive if he has trust and so I trust him to be able to do it", what a wonderful thing to say. I did wonder if she knew about MSE, she seemed to really get into the budgeting, cheap cooking etc!

    Best of luck to them!

  • I think that they saved the best for last. I couldn't help smiling throughout the programme, it gave me that warm inner glow at the traditional family values that they had. It also got me thinking about all the posts I've seen on this site in the Old School section. Such a wonderful family, I wish them every success.

I'm really sorry I missed this. You're all making it sound like I've missed out! I hope they repeat it.
