Yeah I'm aware the Guardian are typo maniacs, but it isn't going to be the same people writing/editing/proofing the paper and responding to competition emails.
The whole thing just seems a bit fishy to me, the unlikeliness of it & its tone, it isn't just the 'typo' that concerns me...

I can only repeat that it is a genuine email. Honest!

I hadn't noticed their spelling mistake, which I would agree is pretty bad.

I've been doing competitions for many years and quite often contact the organisers by phone, letter or email.
For example: some years ago The Sunday Times had a comp to win a trip to Australia.
They announced the winner one day BEFORE the close date which I was quick to point out to them. Their solution was to to give a second prize after the close date, which unfortunately, still wasn't me. All because we are dealing with a national newspaper doesn't mean they are perfect!

I don't mind the cynical attitude towards the email. I'm very sceptical at the best of times.

Good luck to all those many thousands who will have all the correct answers tomorrow.

I've changed my facebook username to NOBODY so when I enter FB comps I press the "Like" button it will say NOBODY likes this

I received an e-mail from the same guy shortly after the competition began because I'd had some problems registering.

I don't believe he's a Guardian employee, his e-mail address was from runeindustries.com (don't bother going to their webpage - it's blank) who, I believe, are some sort of t'internet company. I guess they're just handling the mechanics of how the competition runs and don't really have any wider input or interest. Hence the error.

Pull the other one!! missing a day out because you didnt understand the rules!!!

if they say the question is took down after 24 hours surely it doesnt take much to realise that you wouldnt be able to answer it!! but then again i guess thats why the people who dont understand a simple concept like that are on here getting the answers!! i mean theres a big ticking clock at the top and the band are called the hours...!!
