it's now blocking me out of auctiva community (forums) and of course i'm having a problem with auctiva that i need help with and now i can't ask on the forums

this is really starting to p*ss me off now, i have no clue why it's happening, it makes no sense whatsoever and i've wasted valuable hours trying to resolve it...

thanks again, i downloaded that and it removed even more stuff than spybot and adaware removed BUT it still hasn't fixed the problem... and mcaffee doesn't appear to be interfering with avg as far as i can tell (plus i'm all updated now)

i'm really confused as to how a specific website can just disappear, it works for other people why not for me?

Images can dissappear due to cache corruption.
Images can get blocked by security tools just by the name they use.

A website can disappear due to either local or network issues. What error message do you get in its place?

    What ISP are you with?

    Try the following:

    telnet https://www.thesimsresource.com 80

    then

    GET /

If that fails to get there then you need to check your network: ping and traceroute to the site.

What do you mean by blocking - you can't get to the site at all?

If so turn the firewall off and try it.

i just got a script error for IE do you think that i may have a corrupted version of IE ?

i know we have big problems on this computer because dh uses Netscape and i use IE if one of us has been using our browser, even if we switch users and close down all the windows if we use the other browser it clogs up the machine

normally we have to restart the computer

also, while i'm thinking about it, when our computer freezes and we have to restart it NEVER goes through scandisk... is that normal with XP?

If you did it right then you're either blocking it or have a network issue.

    ping https://www.thesimsresource.com
    tracert https://www.thesimsresource.com

    ping 193.45.143.10
    tracert 193.45.143.10
pathping 193.45.143.10 (you might have this installed)

AFAIK on windows xp you have to run 'cmd'. Start -> Run -> cmd ?

    Then type the commands in.
