No one suggested they should, nor was I making a statement about any specific platform
Ah, your comment was just apropos of nothing.By that logic, all servers are badly designed and badly implemented.
Well maybe they are.
Apart from the ones Apple make of course.
Do you think server technology has reached the very pinnacle of perfection? Should we all just pack our bags and go home? What someone chooses to do with their computer is entirely their own choice, but it doesn't necessarily mean the choice they've made is the right one.
I'm not sure I follow, but OKIt is, isn't it?
Sing it sister. :cool:0 -

Of course not. If they were, there'd sure be a lot of admins out of a job though. Would that be a bad thing? No, at least there'd be few more parking spaces to go around..Sing it sister.
I'm 100% sure we aren't family0 -
Little help - have been going back and forth between the macbook 2.4 13" and the mbp 15-inch only to now be totally confused with the new lineup!
I would ideally like a laptop that will handle any photoshopping and programming I might do in the future but the reality is, I'm way too lazy and will probably end up just surfing the net and using itunes! I definately don't want to get the 17-inch, so for my purposes, am I better off just getting the entry level mbp and upping the memory and hard drive? I'm pretty small and have very little strength so saving the extra pound in weight would be useful...however, the likelihood I'll ever need to tote it around is pretty small! So I guess the extra screen space would be nice but not mandatory. Which one should I go for??? Oh - I might have to rip my dvds on there too but I guess even the lowest spec'd mbp should handle that ok?
ps. I'm sure someone is going to criticise me for getting an expensive machine just to surf but I don't care! I've had my trusty pc for 8 years (and for the record - running 2000 and then xp with zero problems before anyone pipes up about how pooey windoze is) and would just like a change. Which is made even sweeter by a higher ed deal. Thanks!

I really can't imagine doing serious Photoshop work on a 13 in or 15 in monitor, so at least go for the larger screen. or get the 13 in and then buy a larger desktop monitor for your P'Shop work.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

thanks macman - I'm definately getting a larger desktop monitor anyway since my old one needs replacing.
I've narrowed it down to these now:
# 15" 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3, 320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm £1308.70
# 15" 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3, 320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm £1274.20
# 13" 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1066MHz DDR3, 320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm £910.80
I'm getting to a point where I've looked and researched so much that I've lost the will to care anymore...I just want it now (and someone else to decide for me)!0 -
If we're looking at the brand new ones, and graphics are important to you, it's worth noting that all the 13" and the base 15" have the NVidia 9400 graphics, whereas the better 15" also have the 9600 which is way better...0
