They run an authourisation on the card to check its a valid card which usually is £1, so the pending amount would be £1 and you would have £9 left to spend. after a couple of days the pending amount is released to be spent. Its the way most cards work.
E.g you go to pay at pump petrol, enter your pin its checks card is valid and there is £1 held on your account. You fill up and after a day or 2 the full amount is deducted and the £1 is released.
Its a pain but its how they work it!

No I understand that, but as they've declined my card I presume it means they won't accept those cards on the site?

Amazon are still saying that my bank declined the transaction . I don't get that as the card isn't anything to do with my bank. Did any of you have this reply, and if you did how did you get around it? The only thing I think it could be is at the bottom of the card it says 'electronic use only' which means offline. The t&c's say though on magnum MasterCard is accepted at most on-line shopping sites., and I see some of you have made successful purchases online.

I have purchased 100 quid of amazon gift certificates, and now have 2 cards that have gone through however they have not yet sent me the gift certificate yet , not sure why as they were coming through instantly before..

BTW you need to select the mastercard/eurocard option not the amazon mastercard option, this may help.

Well this gets even more interesting by the minute. I can confirm by the way that I did select the mastercard/eurocard option.

Someone from amazon just rang me, and he thinks he knows what the problem is. I explained that it was a win from a magnum promo, and it was a card loaded with money.

He believes that while on my magnum account it says I have funds that in fact there is nothing on it. He reckons that due to the balls up of the promo that the card number I have on mine is also on another, maybe more. So I have now contacted magnum by email (phoneline is dead), and await their reply. Lisa
