Okay, let's try to get back on track.... :D:p

Yay a £10 win this morning!
    Thanks OP!
I have won £60 so far and am astonished at that as I didn't start until the end of May.
So far entered 32 sticks and had 5 wins.
Just added up all my sticks and calculated that I have bought 14 boxes @ £1 a box so £14 outlay for £60 return. :D
Really didn't expect to win any more so the email today was a welcome surprise. :)
 Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

And a long term member of this one. Discretion is the better part of valour. My email address is out there, I don't want to log on to a load of negativity and abuse. I am entitled to my view and I do think its obsession to sit there wiggling lolly sticks out of ice cream, hour after hour, thousand after thousand. With nothing but the thought of cash, loads of it, to motivate U. Greed with a capital G.

I am of the opinion that if people have the money and time to do this - then good on them. There is no point getting jealous - they have invested time and money and also taken a gamble on whether they will get a return on the money invested.
Not everyone plays fair when it comes to comps and those people are ALWAYS the winners.

I've written a formal letter to Birds Eye with regard to the cheating issue and also phoned them. They have promised to investigate big winners before despatching any money. From mail I have received it seems the two biggest winners are a Carolyn ???? from the London area and a Neil ???? from Grimsby, Lincs. Surnames deleted as per the Data Protection Act. It's my understanding that both have won around 450 cards. This amount would seem to be excessive though no suggestion of cheating is implied. What I would say is Bird's Eye should have terms and conditions in place to prevent this monopolising of prizes. It would seem plain that these two individuals have cleared stores of flashed packs, presumably numerous times. If a participant won shall we say once every half dozen goes, that would mean 2,700 Magnum have been bought by each of them. I would suggest a 1 in 6 win rate is probably not acheivable. Therefore it's likely they have bought 4,000 - 5,000 Magnums each.

Is that fair? Is it in the spirit of the competition? I leave you to judge but I have let Bird's Eye know my feelings in no uncertain terms. Competitions like this should be available and present an equal opportunity to all customers. Not be a private piggy bank for the avericious who have more money than they clearly need and still wish to add to it.

To be honest - so what? People spend what they can afford on the competition. I'm not rich, I've just finished university and spent £20 in April, which gave me a return of £lots which I'm highly delighted with!
Do you remember the KitKat Bid competition where you used wrappers to bid on an online auction? One guy bought £3,000 worth of KitKats and won a £12k holiday.
Or how about the Fanta competition, or the Nutrigrain one with big winners?

Your post sounds like 'hard cheese'/sour grapes to me, are you really so put out by a single competition? Dont become so fixated, it's not good for your health

I dont begrudge the big winners at all, I won with the money I spent, they won with the money they spent!

***in my best Michael Winner/Esure voice*** It's only a competition!

Absolutely! There's no point being rich and miserable. I'm far happier playing my friend at chess than chomping my way through Magnums and entering codes. I was delighted when I won my first couple of cards, but now I get more joy every time I kick my friend's <donkey-hybrid> at chess...

    Stupid money :-(

When I was at school years ago, our form tutor held a raffle for a cricket bat, £1 a ticket. The bat was worth about £50 and was signed by someone or other. I got to thinking how much I would like that bat and ended up buying £21-worth of tickets, which was about half of them (there were 30 in the class). For me as a 14-year-old £21 was quite a lot of money, but I'd just kept buying another one or two or perhaps a strip of five every day or two over the fortnight that the raffle was held.

I didn't win it. Who says I didn't learn anything at school...
  • Fair enough, each to their own. One thing I have been emailed about is that apparently the person who sued is a member of the site where the biggest winner is also a member. And they don't exactly see eye to eye. Not sure if I have this rite, obviously not. Because it appears the lady who won 450 prizes is accusing the perwson who sued of greed. I think my source must have that wrong and it's the other way on.
