Sorry Oldwiring, I missed out the smiley....is was a joke.
Even then pushing the gospel on a gas site does have a certain sort of irony.
I do go to church myself, if fact several churches, I do the gardens. :-)
May your gas bill always be low...

    Joke now enjoyed,

I asked for a Large Print Bill when signing up with EBICO. The first invoice came the other day, measures 16.5"x11.5"
That is what I call service.Under their Careline Scheme for older peeps. Will investigate this Southern Electric lower tariff. Thank you.

Ebico appear to be the cheapest for me on a prepayment - anyone already on their system and can you give me an idea if it is worth it given service and contactability!
  • I'm too thinking of joining Ebico but I'm still waiting for a reply to my question as to whether they are going to put their prices up this year. No reply so far so I'm going to wait and see if they answer. EDF the provider I'm with now came second to my comparison search..........

They now follow Southerns price changes if that is of any use.

But as Alared says this is a very old out of date thread.

I recently moved to ebico and discovered that meter readings that I supplied for final readings were inflated by my previous supplier scottishpower. Ebico gave me £5 goodwill gesture and refunded all inflated units back into my account. Still trying to reclaim from scottishpower.
  • I found the sites that are supposed to save you lots of effort don't give you all the options.

I was on pre-pay with Eon and finally found the time to sit down to see how much I could save. I live in the North West and had to search the suppliers' web sites to find the carefully hidden pdf documents that show their current prices. Having got them I put them on a spread sheet.

The regional variation in pricing is quite surprising - particularly on the fixed standing charge. I wanted to stay on pre-pay as I don't want a bill and it concentrates my mind on not wasting electricity!

The web sites directed me to Sainsburys - but my research said EDF. The trouble is that you have to predict your electricty usage to make any sense of the projections, but I know what mine will be with reasonable accuracy.

Anyway - I switched to EDF pre-pay because their daily fixed charge is one of the lowest in the North West but other people may have to check locally as that isn't the case nationally. I've saved about 30% off my daily electricity bill and expect that annually my bill will now be about £320. I calculate that if I was on direct debit I'd save about £10 - £15, but I would leave more things on standby etc, so would spend more!

The moral of the story is that if you are considering changing do a bit of leg work and get the pdf's showing current prices to compare properly.

EDF are nothing to do with Ebico - completely different companies - Maybe you have posted in the wrong thread....?
