Just having my brekky and was reading the thread when I was alarmed to see Tired Mum's post. I was thinking by the time I get to the end it will be a happy ending but no. :( Kids are such thoughtless little !!!!!!s at times. I hope he gets back safe and sound and has the fear of the devil in him. I would whip him till he bled :D & then cuddle him.

Snowy What awful luck you're having hun. Try and not to stress too much over the weekend. <hugs>
Hockey Good news for you but not so good for the others. What an awful tragedy. I'm glad none of us know what sort of day were having when we wake up.
Essex Hebridean I beg to differ. I've always found her/his posts to be spot on.

Well it's pouring rain here & windy to boot so looks like shopping/library isn't going to happen. Might clear in the arv but I doubt it. It looks set in. DH alarm didn't go off this morning  so it was bedlam. :D Sleep well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Tired Mum - thank goodness for that. You must all be so relieved. Have yourself some hot milky chocolate or something before you go to bed, so that you don't lie there thinking about it all night.

Tired Mum - What an apt name for how you must be feeling right now. Massive hugs to you & your family I'm just so relieved that he's home safe & sound. Don't back down though with your original punishment or he'll have had his way IYSWIM? I hope that you manage to sleep tonight. I bet you didn't know whether to hug him or hit him when he came back.
  • I have decided that due to being a materialistic twirp i got myself deep in the brown stuff by buying everything on credit thinking i was doing well in life you know all the flash gadgets decent car nice designer clothes expensive hobbies etc etc......Thing is i couldn't afford it and most went on the never never.
Anyway had our LBM last year and ended up addressing our debts by way of a Debt Managment Plan. Since then we have only been able to deal in cash. Can't get and don't want credit. Make do with what we have. Flogged off most of the material clap trap used the money toward our debt.
Shop for clothes in Charity shops and have some nice clothes as a result. Would not have even contemplated being seen dead in a chrity shop before....how silly, how snobby what a plank.
Run a car worth less than £800 but its solid its legal and i'm not worried about leaving it anywhere:rotfl:
Food shop at Lidl and the local market avoid brand names in the name of economy, miles cheaper again would not have been seen dead in them places previously due to misplaced pride/snobbery.:o
Turned off the central heating bought some blankets for the beds and collected windfall from the woods and burnt it on our open fire.
Ditched the flash hobbies and started running and walking instead and into the bargain lost nearly 5 stones in weight:eek:
Haven't managed to stop smoking yet though:o but have not had an alcoholic drink for nearly a year not that i ever had a problem with drink but still must have saved a bob or too.
Been camping/youth hostelling instead of flash foreign holidays that always went on the fantastic plastic:o
Have a basic bank account no debit card, no cheque book, cash only.
As a result i have been much happier, the family are much happier,we spend what we have and no more but sometimes less. Have a little bit saved which was previously unheard of.We spend more time as a family now too which has been great.
As a result of all this i am converted only regret that i did not see all of this before we got sucked into the commercialism of modern society and sank in consumer debt.
The old ways are best sad thing is i knew how to live frugally but chose not to. Lesson learned and once we get this debt sorted we are never going back there. I long the day when I/we owe nothing to anybody. Hope the property market improves so that we can sell up at no loss and move into rented. Out of the rat race ASAP is our goal. The simple life from now on where we pay cash for everything we want and not credit for what we don't need.
