Hi, this is the Daily Thread for April 1st 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning. Pinch punch and all that good stuff.
Been hectic at work and at home, so been quite busy. Daughters 15th yesterday and then Son's 18th tomorrow, so present buying and parties.
Some friends from Lincs dropped in last night as well and brought with them some delicious lincs saugages too.
Nothing much lese to report. Have a nice day and don't get caught out with silly jokes...

Morning peeps
woohoo! the start of a new month - i can feel the weather getting better and i turned the heating off yesterday. I hope that i can keep it off now, i`m due to read the meters later today and i would like to keep track by reading them on the first of each month and inputting them into the sp website so that i can see exactly what is happening with the usage.
I rearranged some bits and bobs in the greenhouse yesterday, i have so much going on in there at the moment and it wasn`t an easy task but rather enjoyable all the same. The shed needs similar treatment as since i last sorted it all out more things have appeared in there
This morning i took the loaf out of the bm and crept down the garden in the dark and hung the washing out, the greenhouse window is now open too, amazing how early the birds are singing. I stood in the garden for a couple of minutes to listen as it really lifts the spirits.
EEK my phone has just rung and i`m wanted elsewhere.
((((HUGS)))) for you and your mum VickyA and ((((HUGS)))) for Mummysaver.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Nice day here again, I love these lighter evenings, dd and I went up the woods last night with little dog, its so nice to be able to get out in the evenings, :T
Just put the sc on to warm up, I prepared a chicken casserole yesterday so will put that in before work this morning. Need to have a quick tidy through, and a s + s of the kitchen.
Yesterday I went round the house re painting all the scuffs on the walls, I have mainly white walls with the odd feature wall, anyway, I thought the white paint looked a bit odd, and it has dried as a very light blue, so I will have to re do them all next week  the tin says brillaint white but it is more like duck egg blue, what a waste of time
Off to work today, and I need to fit my wii excercises in later, and put a wash on tonight, well think thats is from me, have good days all xx0 -
Good morning!
Penny Pincher - Big hugs to you :grouphug:
It was easier to get up this morning so maybe we're getting used to the hour forward, I hope. WM on its 2nd, and last for the day, load and I've pegged out the 1st one. It looks cloudy again but it dried yesterday so I'm ever hopefulBusy day today I'm going to a job fair with DS1 to see what qualifications he'll need for whatever he wants to do.
An update: As some of you know this lovely young man came to live with us in January after being made homeless by his parents. He's doing extremely well, looks better, is happier, not in any trouble and is a joy to have about. His parents have finally agreed to have a face to face meeting with us next Tuesday. They have refused before & haven't made ANY contact with their son since Chirstmas. His Mum 'talks' to him on Facebook and had a go at him the other day for not getting her a mother's day card    The poor lad was withdrawn & quiet for a few days afterwards not surprisingly. He doesn't want to go home and we've said that he has a home here for as long as he needs it, but DH & I think that his parents need to either be involved in his life or not and stop this childish communication and talk properly. They'd only have to pick the phone up once a week to see how he is for God's sake!!!! DH & I do not profess to have all the answers but to see him, and ours, repsond so well to clear discipline, rules & boundaries is good to see. Sorry for that rant over now anyway
Dinner this evening is chicken curry & rice which is nice & quick to do later.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))) to anyone who needs it.

Good morning all. Not been about much for the past week. DH back to work after his holidays now so hopefully things will get back to "normal" around here.
Big hugs to all who want/need them. Will try to catch up sooner or later.
Roasted chicken, mash, steamed green beans and who knows what else for tea tonight. I'm off to do a quick tidy and a few odds and ends chores.
Hope your day is a good one.

Good morning all,it looks quite dull outside but weatherman says it's going to be nice so here's hoping.
N9eav,I hope the parties go well,we're in the same position at the moment planning our grand-daughters 18th.Where have the years gone.
Sunnygirl, you must be a very nice person with what you are doing for this young lad.I just wish that some parents would realise what effect their actions can have on their children.I always used to say that children were sent to try us.It's up to us,not the children to pass the test.I hope things turn out for the best for this young lad. It's a good job he has you.
Redruby,I had to laugh I've been going round painting the scuffs too. It's made everything look good as new.Just as well as I could no more be bothered to re-decorate than run a marathon.
Pennypincher, never seen the newsletter(think I may have deleted it)anyone care to enlighten me.
Well today,I'm going to touch up the paint on my outside garden walls and then find something for dinner.
I'm on a spend less,use up week,payweek you see.
I hope you all have a good day and the weather turns out nice.Yesterday was beautiful here.
Take care everyone.......0 -
Morning all................((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.................
Did not sleep too well, things going round in my head again and after yesterdays cleaning marathon my back protesteth!!! We both had a shower before going to bed. OH is still sleeping.
I dashed off a long list the the letting agents last night, we have some necessary shopping to do this morning. TV needs to go in the car....the sky man cometh and then over to the house. I have to pack up sarnies and cake, we could be in for a long wait anytime between 12 and 5pm was the time on the letter. At least we will be back a bit earlier than yesterday.
Nice morning, Sun shining....blue sky, it can stay like that for the next few days for me.
We are aiming at staying at the house from Saturday, just coming back here to pack and move more stuff, so the removers just have to dismantle the wardrobes and move the heavy stuff.........then job done.......Today I have to contact BG re the heating and electric once we have been in the house for a month I will arrange to swap to a better provider. I think I have allowed about £80 a month for heating and electric. At least there are plenty of plugs I can get to so we will not need to use traling sockets, if we do they can be switched off when not in use.
Right OH not stirred yet I need to get a shower and dress, collect the boxes from the car and start clearing the rest of the kitchen, just leaving the bare necessities..............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning well I have not done any o/s since Monday morning but the hospital seems to have gone into the Dark Ages,
I am bored and really want to go home but I think I could be looking at tomorrow or Friday..
Hope everyone is ok Csearina hope the move is good
KatieOf all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most£2,960 in debt to RBS paying off at £10 a Fortnight0 -
Morning all,
Looking forward to some time off from work, :j finished yesterday and not due back until 16th April so lots of OS type stuff planned:D
WM on, kitchen tidied, BG calling this morning to look at my DW which isn't working very well. Strangely I'm quite enjoying washing up by hand again, washing as I go, mind you I haven't done a lot of cooking this week so might not be so keen by the end of the week.
Big pile of ironing this morning including some for a local lady who's asked if I can do a bag each week for her, bit of extra cash so said yes.
Planning to mow the front lawn and tidy up the back yard, get out in the sunshine as it's a beautiful day here. Will pop into town later for a browse around the charity shops and to 99p shop to buy some jars of Chicken satay sauce (59p each). Had some last night, chopped up leftover pork from Sunday's roast and warmed it in the sauce, served with stir-fried veg (whatever I had in the fridge) and rice. Delicious, DH thought it was blooming lovely so I'm stocking up.
Have a good day, enjoy the sunshine if you have it.0 -
Good morning all!
Just sitting down with some toast and a cuppa and going to have a browse! Have put the wm and bm on, td is going and a load is on the line. Kitchen needs a good S&S, and house needs a hoover, but that's pretty much it for today I think.
Lunches today were hm pasties or sausage rolls, hm hobnobs (must make some more, they seem to vanish into thin air!), apple, hm yoghurt and some crisps (woo, what a treat lol!)
Dinner tonight will be chicken stuffed with mozzarella and wrapped in bacon with hm chips and veg, pud will be cake!
It's dd3's 8th birthday today, so the house was chaotic this morning! Bless her, she was soooooo excited, it was lovely. Anyway tea tonight is her choice, and she wants a choc cake for pudding! She had the rabbits for her birthday early, so today she got a few bits and bobs, and a big pressie of High School Musical Sing It - we've already had several rounds! I suspect that by bedtime I shall have a headache!
I'm off for another doc's appointment this afternoon, and hoping that they have some more results for me, everything is coming back clear so far, which is good in one way, but not much help in working out what is actually wrong! Still, the prognosis now seems to be that it won't be anything too serious, or at least nothing that can't be controlled with tablets and monitoring at the very worst, so I'm feeling very relieved, and very thankful that the consultant and her secretary are so good at communicating and not leaving me worrying.
Hugs to all who need them, off for a read back now xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
