Geographical Internet Number

Options
My mum uses dial-up internet. She also has a telephone package that means she has free geographical telephone numbers (01... and 02... numbers) all the time.

Unfortunately her internet providers number (Boltblue) is an 0845 number so she is charged for it. I contacted Boltblue and asked if they have a geographical number, but they said they didn't.

Does anyone know of any dial-up internet providers that have a 01 or 02 number that is easy to change to?

Check the terms and conditions of the telephone co. it may well state that the free calls are for voice calls only.

Very, very unlikely, or a lot of people would be doing this for free net access.

Ditto - most don't allow internet. Other option is to add it as a best friend within any calling circle plans, that should give some discount.

Before I had broadband I used BT Yahoo dial up and TalkTalk free evening and week-end calls to dial up via 0121 478 9200

You do have to remember to keep disconnecting every 70 mins so as not to get charged. I never had any problems from BT or TalkTalk.

You would now. BT have an exclusion list and that number is on it!

An 0845 number just diverts any calls received to a standard geographical number, so anyone with an 0845 or 0870 number MUST have an end geographical number. (NB This doesn't apply to premium rate services which are securely routed using "non-dialable" numbers).

So you "just" need to find someone who knows what that non-geographical number is!

I used to work for Cable & Wireless, in case you were wondering ;-)

....and you then need that number to not be on BT's (or whoever else's) EXCLUSION LIST. This is the hard part....
