Yep it looks like dell made another error in their marketing (surprise!!) and have pulled that offer and reverted to 256mb, they want you to pay £399 for 512mb and a 15.4" screen!! when before it would have cost £374.

    No longer a bargain!!

Although 381 after quidco means its not a huge difference to before....

£399 is still cheap for the spec (512 MB, 15.4" widescreen, DVDRW, wireless etc) compared to other manufacturers, but £374 is obviously cheaper :-(

I'm pretty sure Dell have staff employed -just- to monitor the MSE forums....
At the very least I would expect them to monitor all the forums immediately after their regular weekly price changes - just in case they've screwed up.

I know its not in the true spirit of these forums, but I have heard lots of people say that if you phone dell to cancel an order they normally give you an extra 10% off are some free bits?, has anyone had this happen?

Cause i am thinking of trying it, just to save a liitle more.

No. You need Microsoft Office Professional (loadsa money) for Powerpoint.

I assume these are easy enough to add more memory yourself?

Crucial have 256mb for about £21 and 512mb for £36

Yeah its easy to add memory, but its better value to get the £399 laptop through quidco (£381 ish) than get the laptop at £339, as for an extra £60 you get the screen upgrade and the extra 256ram, but really depends if you want the extra screen I suppose.

To reiterate what I said in several posts when the original offer was around (unless you want the screen and battery upgrades), then buy the thing and try it out so see if you need more memory for what you want to do.

This is a basic laptop that most people will use for doing one, maybe two, things at a time, and are unlikely to need loads of memory for this.
