These too
(Did you try LSPFIX as that should reset part of the net)
Download HostsXpert
and then follow the below steps.
* Unzip HostsXpert.zip
* It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
* Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
* click the Make Writeable? button.
* click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
* Click the X to exit the program:idea:0 -
I managed to get the StopSign one to work and it identified programfiles\mstpscre\tpscrex.exe as a trojan downloader. But when I googled that it seemed to be all regular stuff and an actual program?
I still cannot just reinstall XP either. I just tried and when it comes to restarting the computer it won't go any further. I get a completely black screen with what looks like a little white underscore flashing in the top left corner.
And it let me use hostsxpert by the way, but I am not entirely sure if it worked as I do not know what it was meant to do

I deleted the file listed above as I figured if it was already screwed who cared :S
Oddly deleting that has allowed me to load Malwarebytes, although it won't let me update it as it says it cannot get through my firewall. I have checked and the program is listed as an exception so it should be able to, but even when I turn the firewall off completely it can't. It also won't let me just download a more updated version - it still bans my use of any security sites and even when I get them to download it won't let me install them.
Oh well, we'll see if it finds anything anyway.0 -

So log as you followed the instructions I gave ~ it will put the HOSTS file back to 'default' (As in when the computer first ran) and should hopefully have allowed some of the sites youve tried to now work:idea:0 -
it still doesn't seem to be letting me.
Oddly I am now able to run the disk defragmenter though, which I haven't been able to do since the problems first started. Or rather, I can now open it - but it just tells me I need to run chkdsk \f or something like that. I googled that and found it was the error thing that you get when you right click on C and then tools. But that won't work, it will open but it says it cannot run. Still these are all improvements lol

run the System File Checker, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run type sfc /scannow, and then press ENTER.
2. Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
3. Restart the computer when System File Checker process is complete.:idea:0 -
* Download DDS and save it to your desktop.
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr
* Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
* A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
* Notepad will open with the results.
* Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
* Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.:idea:0 -
I will try that in a minute (as the malware thing is still rnning) however my computer has issues with restarting. Now whenever I restart it it asks me if I want to run XP normally or install XP. This is whether the disk is in it or not. Install XP does nothing except show a black screen. When I try to run it normally it still doesn't work and will sort of stop after the screen where I type my password in.0
