Yes it will. The bootcd is a bootable version of linux that will be able to access your hard drive and scan/clean it.

Hijackthis was downloaded, but it won't run/install. Everytime I double click it it shows the little eggtimer for a few seconds and then nothing happens

Okay thank you, I will try this out. I am worried though as it would not even allow me to reinstall XP as it refused to read the disk (and now everytime I turn the computer on, regardless of whether there is a disk in the drive or not, it asks if I want to turn it on normally or reinstall XP. Even when I click install XP it can't do it so I am not sure what it's problem is :P)0 -

Run LSPFIX
Download SPYBOT (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION' ~ make sure TEA TIMER is UNTICKED on installation)
http://www.filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/
UPDATE and IMMUNISE (Make sure it reads ZERO unprotected) and SCAN
Download SUPERANTISPYWARE (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
UPDATE and PERFORM COMPLETE SCAN
What anti virus do you have now?
Get TASK MANGER running. Can you not switch off whatever looks dodgy then try the av stuff?:idea:0 -
AlienRik, I tried renaming that and malware to random letters and neither would run. I then tried renaming them to things that sounded like games and still, nothing. It is smarter than me, LOL

Also, nothing looks dodgy on task manager. I have watched it like a hawk and googled every single thing that wasn't immediatley obvious as to what it was, and all of them are things that should be there.0 -
see if you can run any ONLINE scans (Usually need to be run within internet explorer)

- Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
- Now, click on the Save Report as button.
- Save the file to your desktop.
- Copy and paste that information in your next post.
- Check (tick) this box: YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
- Click on the Start button next to it.
- When prompted to run ActiveX. click Yes.
- You will be asked to install an ActiveX. Click Install.
- Once installed, the scanner will be initialized.
- After the scanner is initialized, click Start.

Are there any scanning programs that don't have really obvious titles? As it won't let me on the website or won't let me run anything where the title makes it obvious what it is, even when I rename it.
EDIT: I can't go to the website of any of the scanners you have listed above, in either Firefox or IE.0 -
